this might be a blessing in disguise

I know most people are thinking its a blessing because it opens up minutes to get other guys into the system...which I agree with.  But to me, the biggest blessing might be that it will get Davis some rest.  He has played a ton of minutes this year, and IMO, he has looked tired lately.

Now, the risk is that he does not work hard to stay in shape as he stays off the court, but if the trainers crack the whip making sure he works his ass off in the bike, etc., he could come back refreshed, and with more energy like he had early in the season.

Basically, the same thing they are doing with Shaq.

You didn't really just say that most people think it's a blessing BBD got hurt. Am I really reading this?

Apparently BBD has been feeling pain for a few weeks and played through it. Maybe that accounts for his poor games lately. But tonight he came back, played his regular great game and was our 6th man just like he has been.

Yes, he will need rest. But those new guys out there tonight looked worse than horrible, except for Kristic, who was good.

Kudos to him for playing through the pain...but what injury prevents you from making a pass? He hardly makes a pass...tries to get his own points.

Cmon man. How can you complain about his shots when he leads the league in charges taken. I have no problem with his shot selection he earns those attempts.

I don't see any blessing here. I'm truly worried about BBD.

If its serious, your right, it is not a blessing.  If he is out for 2 weeks with a minor knee injury that he has been dealing with all year (he is blaming it for his missed dunk in Miami), and gets to finally rest it and get it fully healthy, than it absolutely is a blessing.

It always is tough when guys miss times, but sometimes it takes minor injuries like this to allow guys to get fully healthy for the stretch run.

For the most part I agree (although I don't think you "earn" shot attempts by taking charges).  The majority of the shots he takes are from his "spots".  My problem is that he has been missing a lot of them short lately, which tells me that those legs need some rest.

Blessing in disguise.  It is a figure of speech.  No one is saying its good that Baby got hurt.  But if it is a minor injury, it could benefit the team in the longrun to get this chance to rest Davis, and get other guys up to speed before the playoffs.

I hope 2-3 weeks of rest can get him back to 100%. The Celtics need him in the playoffs, because BBD has given energy and has been the healthiest big man so far.

Take that rest, Glen. Meanwhile, Krstic, Murphy and Green will help KG to hold the fort. Your health is more important than regular season games.

When BBD is back, I hope the O'Neals are ready to play also, in order to work the playoff rotation. We'll be ok.

Go Celtics!

Just because he takes charges doesn't mean he earned the right to become a black hole on offense. This Celtic offense is built around good ball movement. Most of the time Baby gets the ball, no one else sees it take possession.

Well according to Doc you earn playing time with defense. You dont earn a little longer leash on offense when you go all out on defense end like Davis does? People just look for any criticism they can find. Oh he never passes. Its called being hyper critcal.

I do agree that he needs rest and also agree with the fact that he mostly shoots from his spots.

Thanks so much for that video, Misha.

I noticed he said that's why he hasn't been jumping that high because his knee has been hurting.

Boy this really worries me. If it's been hurting, what was wrong with it before tonight?

I am glad he's going to be forced to get some rest time. He needs to work on getting that knee better and be ready for the playoffs. He's been working his butt off for this team and it just upsets me so much.

Well, Perk was a better defender/defensive player than BBD. That didn't stop anyone from criticizing him. Perk wasn't a good offensive player....and right now BBD is a blackhole on the offense..what's wrong in pointing that out? He could take 10 charges a game...but that doesn't contribute to his offense. Two separate issues.

sounds like this has been a lingering problem for him...we're probably lucky, honestly, that it's not a tear. sounds like stuff just accumulated. hopefully this is a "few weeks of rest" type of deal where he can come back relatively healthy. if shaq is back soon, we should be sort of okay...shaq backed up by kristic, and kg backed up by murphy (who is obviously out of shape right now). keep green as the back-up 3. not ideal, but we can weather this.

No Leon Powe needed! although this was a ufortunate injury, maybe taking over Baby;s role can get Troy Murphy rolling and knock that apprent rust off. Playing 8mins a game wasn't going to do the trick for him. He needs shots and time & he going to rebound a whole lot better than baby certainly. 25 minutes a game should be just what the DOC-tor ordered and signed him for. Danny looks really wise to have stole Maurphy from Miami now cause we definitely need him.

An injury to a key man on this team is never a good thing, in any way, and all this does is hurt us. Here's hoping that this is only a strain and nothing serious, cuz Glen is a big piece of this team being successful in the post-season.

don't exactly disagree...but if this has been an issue all year for baby, then we're lucky this didn't happen closer to the playoffs, or was more severe. if the rest lets him get the knee back to normal, that'd be a plus. forced rest isn't a terrible thing for guys who always play through pain. the hope is, he can come back in good health for the playoffs.

If its just a strain we should be fine, our schedule is really soft over the next 2-3 weeks, while the Heat/Bulls have tough stretches, if we can create some separation for the 1 seed, everyone will be able to get their proper rest without suffering bad losses...
