With Dallas having the room to go after Corey Brewer (not sure what the heck the Knicks are doing there) and Chicago going after Rasual Butler, let's take a look at other FA's.

Kelenna Azubuike,SG - Former Golden State and Knick player is supposedly close to ready to come back.  He is more of a catch and shoot guy, but he has nice athleticism overall.

Larry Hughes, SG - There were some reports that we were interested in him during the off season.   He might be an interesting name off the bench, but you could always go with a big lineup with Paul Pierce at the 2 and Jeff Green at the 3.

Carlos Arroyo, PG - I personally am not a fan of his shot, but he is a nice ball handler.

Hughes could be interesting as a third string PG. Well combo guard.

Azubuike hasn't played in 18 months and his career is probably over. All the reports coming off NY say he's too broken to play this season. Maybe we'll get to see him in a Summer League team.

Hughes hasn't played since last season and he looked horrible for the Bobcats. Is there any reason to believe he's in basketball shape, that he can still play pro basketball? Any hint he'd like to join a team or that he's been working out? Even if so, I'd have major doubts to add him at this point of the season.

At least we know Arroyo is in shape, but he's an awful basketball player. Can't play defense, will hesitate to even take open looks, dribbles aimlessly with the ball. A player with no self-confidence... and he has excellent reasons for that.

There's no reason to sign any of these guys before someone like Garrett Temple (or if you want an old veteran, even Antonio Daniels) except reputation and name recognition. Basketball reasons? None.

Could be interesting, but does anyone know what he's been doing while not playing... How he's been keeping in shape?

Yeah, Hughes is one of my favorite options.  He is a veteran, has shown the ability to defend at a near-elite level in the past, and can handle the point as well as guard SGs.  He may not be the flashiest option, but his versatility could be a huge asset at the end of the C's bench.

No details, but I know he has been looking for (and lobbying for) a job, so I would imagine he has been staying in shape.

Wow, this is all that's available?  I'll take Arroyo.

I like his game (on the court), but I don't think Pierce does (off the court). Doubt he would get by the 3 vets' approval. Probably a moot issue for that reason alone.

I keep forgetting about that.  Good point.  If Pierce really does still have an issue with him, then he is nowhere near good enough to risk being a chemistry issue.

How about Antonio Daniels then?  Brings similar skills, without the baggage.

Just think, though.  Miami's STARTING point guard until recently, would be our THIRD STRING PG, and would probably be on the inactive list unless Delonte or Rondo was hurt.

One man's trash is another man's well, third string insurance policy who probably won't dress if there's no injuries...

I like Daniels too. Lots of miles, but a good, solid, steady vet to keep the ship afloat when RR gets rest if Dwest is hurt.

I'd also take Arroyo as our 3rd string pg. At least he has the experience, and, if forced to make a choice, would actually take him over Bibby for our needs. Bibby is Nate without the hops and slightly better passing skills.

Antonio Daniels is not really any better than Arroyo but I think I'd take him because Arroyo's lack of mental fortitude to take wide open shots in Miami scared me.

Still, Daniels is not even a top-3 PG in the D-League.
