Bibby won't be allowed to do anything more in Miami than what Chalmers or Arroyo do, and he's a worse defender than either of those guys.

Murphy would help the Heat out a bit, but he's got his defensive issues as well.

Mike

Aren't these guys (or at least Arroyo) shooting the 3 at an amazing clip? I'm trying to figure out how Bibby makes them any better besides maybe playoff experience and the willingness to take big shots (which is still a stretch i think)

To us Murphy is a nice piece that can play a decent role. His role on Miami could be much greater... i don't think that's the best situation for him.

I definitely agree. I also think Spolestra will have an extremely tough time integrating any new guys. There starting line up and their rotations in general have changed so much over the year.

I trust Doc to find roles for some of these guys. Spolestra seems like he would just hope that guys would carve their own role

It doesn't matter if Orlando can beat the Heat in their bracket, but I'm actually hoping for the reverse because the Heat will be a better matchup for the C's than Orlando (no Perk).

Bibby and Murphy are better suited playing half court ball. Which is the Heat's glaring weakness and the way the games start to trend in the playoffs. They would give the Heat an edge.

I respectfully disagree.

If Murphy and Bibby go to the Heat, it's not over, because of:

Lebron.

He won't be able to close out a series.

Look at what happened last night? And our last game vs MIA.

Yeah Orlando would have the advantage at Center, other than that though the Celtics have every other advantage. I would be thrilled if we get to play the Magic in the playoffs instead of the Heat. Howard is just not a scary superstar to play against, he can't carry a team by himself in the playoffs

Neither one of those guys are going to solve Miami's frontcourt woes and certainly not from a defensive standpoint.

Sadly, I think that would be enough to get out of the East.

Both of them would be highly motivated and would provide just enough help to the two glaring weaknesses the Heat have.

I would love to get Brewer either way. He would be great going forward and a fantastic piece for rebuilding.

Nobody can guard Dwight anymore. He is going to get his 30 and 10 with Perkins on him or anyone else.

All you need is a big body and make him work for his points so he isnt just getting easy dunks and layups.

Shaq and JO will do better then Perkins, because they also have offense and have to be guarded.

Howard can drop 30+ on Perkins and has done so earlier this season.

The myth of "Perkins can stop Howard" has died.

All you need now is to make howard work for his points, and stay home on their shooters.

Bibby is kind of irrelevant, but Murphy will definitely help them. He'll be a sizeable improvement over Big Z. Same defensive deficiencies, but Murphy is a better rebounded and scorer. Spreads the floor better for LeBron/Wade to penetrate.

I'm surprised more people don't agree with the OP. A few hours ago, Murphy was being grossly overrated in these boards. Now it seems he's being underrated.

Murphy would be a great pickup for us, san antonio, chicago and maybe orlando.  Teams that can make up for his defensive limitations and teams where he can have space to shoot.  He would help miami but if he's the starting center how is he going to match up against shaq or howard?  Would he guard amare?
Bibby is cooked, he is a backup and a good team, 3rd string pg on our team.
