Well, all I know is that Jermaine O'Neal protected the rim just as good as Perk did...and he didn't mind blocking shots.

He seemed to relish his role, and not upset the flow of the team.

I will welcome him back, myself, once he's ready.

What has he played this year, 9 games?

I don't understand why so many people are supportive of Delonte, Perk, KG, and Marquis through their injuries, but criticize JO because of his???

Might be because JO basically has been injured since he got here and was not in shape when he got here, at least according to Danny. Also might be because instead of having surgery at the beginning of the year, he put it off until mid-season.

Because JO is over-weight, the others are sticks, even Perk has become very lean. JO and Shaq are not.

I'm sure this is as much on the C's medical staff as it is on JO.

Can't find the link, but I am pretty sure I have read more than once that many wanted JO to get surgery done at the beginning of the season, but he refused.

Sure JO didn't play a lot of games this year but you can't deny the fact that he had a strong impact when he played so saying he is cooked isn't true and if he is healthy for the playoffs (big "if" I know) I think he will surprise a lot of people and make them reassess their opinion of JO.

Of course if you expect him to give you 25 points and 15 rebounds a night you can say he is cooked but in the minutes he played this season he was excellent as a defender, shot blocker and respectable offensively so I will gladly take this production back for 10 or 15 minutes per game in the playoffs, which will be huge.

That's a good point, Megatron. I think everyone has been so down on him because of disappointment. Most were so excited about him coming here and we really needed a big man and center and when he played - when he played healthy(not when playing hurt) he looked great out there. It was a big letdown losing him to injury.

Doesn't the regular season end in mid-April?  I should hope he'd be back by then, since it was supposed to be a 6 to 8 week recovery for his surgery.  This tweet doesn't make me optimistic that he's ahead of schedule, despite Danny saying he looks great.

Yeh I agree. Sounds like he's behind schedule if anything. I thought he'd be back earlier than that  - or at least playing very limited minutes well before that.

Let's keep in mind that he's 31.  The notion that he can bounce back from midseason surgery is not an impossibility.

he is the oldest 31 yr old i have ever seen

how about Tmac? :P

I'd rather they opt on the side of caution and delay his return.

Also shows how off target early fan reaction to one of Danny's moves can be.

JO had a bad knee in the playoffs last year. Expecting him to come to the team in good shape might be a bit of a stretch. And Delonte's also been injured (or suspended) since he got here. His support comes from his previous stint on the team.
