I will say something

Theres a lot of PF Cs out there that makes the asnwer a NO

yea, the league has changed enough that you have to consider guys like Love, Duncan, Lopez, etc. even David Lee, as centers, which puts Perk way out of the top ten.

yup to add
there are no enough natural centers to even make a ranking over 10
unless you put there every single unmmovable over 6 11 player

Nice to be back!

I agree with More Banners. Just looking at that list makes me realize, that a lot of Celtics fans are very sentimental about this trade. It's his defense alone that keeps him in the top 12-20. His offense is off the charts bad for a starting center.

In no specific order, these are 10 players listed at center who I consider better than Perkins.

1) Howard

2) Bogut

3) Bynum

4) Duncan

5) Noah

6) Nene

6) Horford

7) Lopez

8. Jefferson

9) Shaq

10) Chandler

And as another poster said, being a "top 10" center means nothing these days. Being a top 10 center in today's NBA is like being a top 30 point guard.

I don't see Shaq as a top 10 center anymore.

Of guys who are strictly centers? Absolutely. Center is an extremely weak position in this league.

Hard to be a top center if you can't play over 20 minutes in a game.

Hard to be a top center if you don't play at all.

Perhaps if he worked out as hard as he sells stuff he'd be in better shape?

wow every post you make gets sillier and sillier. To say we outright don't have a shot at dwight in 2012 is just a not very smart or true. I am nott saying it will 100% happen, but our roster and salaries are set up perfectly to make a run at him. Not to mention we won't have a center on the roster in 2012.

That post was about Shaq not Howard.

It's not impossible to say the Boston won't Get Howard. So perhaps I shouldn't say "it won't happen." I should say "my gut tells me it won't happen."

But it's also just as bad to go around and talk about it like it will happen. You're setting yourself up for disappointment.

He's certainly a top 4 or 5 Defensive Center (Dwight, Varejao, Noah, Perk, Tyson).

Overall? Wow - just on intangibles alone, I'd say he's a top 10.

Stats? Decent stats over the years..he impressed me during the 08-09 playoffs vs CHI..we were without KG and lost Powe early in that series, and Perk manned up quite well.

Perk averaged around 13 pts, 12 rebs and about 3 blks in helping us beat CHI then.

He was our only low post presence for that series due to injuries. Glen played some in the post, but not as much as Perk.

He is not polished offensively, but from time to time I've seen him with a few moves down low.

He played well in the Celtics' System, though....will be interesting to see how he is integrated in OKC. If he gets 30-35 min a game and stays healthy, he could put up some noticeable numbers.

No -- Perk is a top 20 and probably top 15 center though.

Perk is at his highest value when the team he is on doesent rely on him for scoring, but just for stricly defense and dirty work. Teams like OKC, Miami, Boston have more then enough offensive options that they dont have to rely on Perk to do anything but the blue collar work, and for that he is an integral part.

Dwight Howard is the only Center that is defensively better then Perk.

If Perk didnt have Defense he wouldnt even be in the top 30.

Top fifteen now skills-wise, not quite top ten, and certainly not of all time. Top ten heart, easily. ;)

if Perk didn't have defense, he would see PT solely because of injuries :P

In terms of caring and working hard he is easily top five.  Playing ability he is high middle of the pack but not top ten.

I think playing next to KG helped his defense a lot.   It would help anyone's I think.   The real question is has he learned how to be a leader and will he impact the Thunder's defense.   I don't think Durant will be receptive to comments on D as some think.  He is the man on that team and the man doesn't often listen to a roleplayer.
