Last night Chris Johnson made his debut for the C's at the back 5, considering he weighs all of 200lbs if that i am surprised they did not call up Tiny Gallon from the Red Claws. Tiny was an all-star in the NBDL and fits more of the Perk big guy in the middle role. Any Red Claw observers out there have any insight into this ?

Tiny Gallon is light years away from being in the physical shape to play in an NBA game. Have you gotten the chance to see him play?

We needed a guy that could log minutes. Gallon might have fouled out of that game.

He is an interesting prospect but he needs to get in shape. I dont mean lose weight, just get some wind. Stretch out those lungs!

Thanks, didnt realize he was so out of shape. Also saw that Chris Johnson was also an allstar and had better numbers than Gallon

I have only seen 4or5 of his games. If there are any people who watch every Maine game out there let me know if I am wrong!

The more I look into the NBDL the more evident it becomes that Chris Johnson was the best C available not affiliated to another NBA team.

i cant remember the last time i saw a celtics center as jumpy and athletic as chris johnson was last night (and i only saw the first quarter).

hes clearly not the answer (big baby needs to take cj to eat with him to get some weight on him) but hes fun to watch. if we have a roster spot open by march 1 and there is nobody left to sign out of the buyouts, i say we give it to the kid.

Johnson was with the Celtics in the training camp, so he's more familiar with the team than Gallon.

He's also a better player at least for this role. Can run, jump, block shots and, if nobody pushes him, rebound the ball. Gallon is the guy pushing Johnson, but he can't really do the other things. Nice hands, but the rest of that body...

I thought I heard that no one from the Red Claws were chosen due to timing and distence and Johnson was the best closest big man that could get there for the game.

It's simple.  They called up the better player.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter.  They got the best guy they could find who could get to Denver before the game.  He will be gone in a week.
