Is anyone else worried about Shaq's injury besides me?

The fact he still isn't ready to go seems troubling. An achilles injury is not something to play around with and I last read he wasn't seeing improvement and will miss this entire upcoming road trip. We're getting into the stretch run here  - Only two games up on Bulls from being in third place and playing NYK in 1st round - and if we are without BOTH O'Neals in the playoffs I just don't know if we win banner 18... I mean our great advantage was supposed to be our inside dominance.

I hope we see the Big Shamrock soon.

I'm getting pretty worried about it too. I know some people will say the celtics are just giving the old man time off to be fresh for the playoffs, but I think he legitimately can't play and is not improving, which is a very bad sign. If it gets to the point that he needs surgery, then both of the Oneals would have pooped out before we even reach the playoffs.

To be honest, not really.  Annoyed would be more accurate.  But anyway, I still think this is more about finding an excuse to rest Shaq more than anything else.  I think they are just trying to save him for the playoffs.

Shaq was running and jumping around during the all star game wearing air-force-ones.

Hes also recovering from multiple nagging injuries, his hip, his calf, and his achilles. Thats going to take time.

His injury cant that bad if hes actually mobile. Doc already stated they arent going to bring guys back unless they are 100%.

So if Shaq is saying there is still soreness then he wont play until that gets taken care of.

Like I said, his injury cant be that bad if hes wearing normal shoes and is mobile enough to be slinging his legs and feet on a table during the all-star halftime show.

Doc is just giving him rest, I wont be surprised if Shaq rests until the final few weeks of the regular season to get his rhythm back.

His attitude from the all-star break and from other times ive seen him seems like "wow i get all this time off and im loving it"

Shaq will be there when we need him.

They're probably preserving him for the post-season.

I'm worried, the C's need one of the O'Neals to be ready to give them 10-20 minutes.

I am still trying to be patient with the O Neal(s) situation.

Some may remember Shaq making comments a while back to the effect that "Some teams give you a shot for this kind of injury stuff and you keep playing. They dont do that here, they let you rest and heal up." He acted like he appreciated the way the team and staff treated him. There was more about how if it was the playoffs, he would be in there. "Just give me something for the the pain and I will play". I guess he considers that old school.

As to JO, it is difficult to read his situation. I think he is at the end of the road and playing with the 'bone on bone' knee(s). I think there is no surgical solution and no treatment for him. The team knows they have limited minutes coming from him and they are trying to 'hoard them'. This is of course mostly speculation on my part but I think the facts at least partially support my theory.

I am really glad to here that Semih Erden is back available now. I look forward to seeing him get a few minutes on this road trip. Doc would be well advised to get 10-12 mpg for him so he will have his timing at the end of the season. I really think we are going to need him in the post season at some point due to foul trouble or injury.

In the game thread, it was said Shaq might be back during this road trip.

Honestly, I'm more worried about JO.

I think JO is done. We won't get anything from him.

Shaq, not so much. I think in the end he'll be fine and give us what we need come playoff time. I really don't think he'll be used all that much up until then. Now if he's still not playing at all a month from then I'll start to change my mind.

I'd read somewhere that Doc has ruled out Shaq for this west coast road trip. He is in Florida going through rehab.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
trust me you'd rather have him resting and getting healthy now for the playoff run.
Perk is back and blasting- if this weren't the case then shaq would be playing for sure.
There is no need to play him and risk injuring himself even more whilst we are playing these bum teams which we should be able to handle with ease without him.
think of the bigger picture guys.

well, now that Perk is hurt again, I guess we'll find out how bad Shaq's injury really is.

Gorman said shaq will not play on the trip. Seeing perk limp off after the game did not make me feel good. Semih, understandably, was awful. Need big men badly.

Alot of that was rust on Semihs part, the guy hasnt played in like a month.

Semih will play better, no doubt. I just hope he stays healthy and we dont rush Shaq.

This recent Perk situation makes the Murphy rumor even more enticing.
