D Will is great passing on the break and hitting the cutters, slashers, and alley oops, thats not the type of the system the Celtics run.

Sounds to me like you're talking about Rondo. It's crazy to suggest that Rondo is a better halfcourt player than Williams.

Yeah I'm confused by this also. Isn't that exactly what Rondo does? If Williams can already do all that and shoot the j than that is pretty money!

Maybe I'm biased, but for the difference in salary I would rather have Rondo.  Of course I would rather have Dwill straight up, but that isn't the whole story.  If we have to re-sign DWill near a max contract then it would really limit what else we could do.

In a heartbeat.  Deron is just better, period. He'd fit just as well, if not better, on this team. And he can shoot the ball and the Lakers wouldn't be able to play 4-on-5.
This is it in a nutshell.  As much as Rondo brings to the table, this has and probably always will be an issue with him.  The lakers literally are playing 4 on 5 in an NBA game.  You don't think that hurts our other offensive players?

D Will is a better player than Rondo AND he would make this team better right now.  And while the idea of this trade is nothing but fantasy right now, you make it in a heartbeat if you are the Celts.

near max? max. regardless, the only other player on the team signed in 2012 is Pierce. can you say: Dwight Howard?

Tha-Thump

That is the sound of the one heart beat it would take me to trade Rondo for Deron Williams.  It doesn't seem realistic that it could happen but as much as I love Rondo, Williams is simply better.

It wouldn't be as easy a decision for me as for some others, but yes, I'd pull the trigger on that deal.  I do think, though, that losing the chemistry between Rondo and the "big three" would be a pretty large setback, at least initially.

For whatever it's worth, I don't think a trade like this could happen until the summer, as Rondo is still a BYC player, I think.

Roy, here's a trade that works. I don't think the Jazz would let JO get in the way of getting Rondo, but the Cs could throw in $3mil in cash to offset the blow. In a trade of this size, I doubt that'd be an issue. I'd also be willing to put in a pick.

Yeah, I shouldn't have said "can't".  Rather, BYC makes a trade less likely.
