he gets into disputes but mostly as a result of his passion for the game. i do not believe that his arguments are at all malicious.

eja117, have you considered that he likely got big stitches and/or staples in his head? Given he's playing a contact sport the risk of those getting pulled out would dictate a pretty big bandage.

I mean he's going to get hit in the head from time to time, that's just basketball. A swipe that catches him right could rip them out.

You may be right, BballTim, the Tree Rollins/Danny Ainge biting was reported both ways, and I probably misremember...but it sort of proves my point about no one side being so innocent.  Baiting, or reacting...which is worse?

eja...as far as McHale being afraid of retribution and KG not expecting any under todays rules...We don't know the story behind KG's bleeding from the head (two separate occasions) last week.  Accidental bump, retribution for something?  I don't believe the refs  called a foul on either...no one knows...no one can say...but it could be...
True. He didn't cry about the head or anything. Although I'm not sure other guys would wear the aircraft carrier bandage he has for a week.

You have a problem with the "size" of his band-aid now? This is just blind hatred man.

You got blind hatred from the band-aid comment? You must not have seen the comparison between KG's intensity and Antoine's...
We're talking about a fried chicken eating contest right?
Wow Fafnir.  I wouldn't have the guts to say such a thing. Toine would of course kill KG in such a contest.
Of course he would:

Quote
Ainge purposely didn't strike up a relationship with Walker as he mulled the next move. He had a lot to think about. Walker's weight was a central issue. Toine had battled leg injuries the previous season and had ballooned to 267 pounds, 22 over his playing weight. He was a fried-chicken fanatic who could down 20 drumsticks doused in hot sauce in one sitting at Harold's Chicken Shack in Chicago. Plus, Beantown fans had started to boo Toine for his wild shot selection, and had grown tired of the upper-body shimmy dance dubbed The Wiggle, especially when he'd break it out with the team down by 10. "People thought Antoine had gotten too comfortable here," says a member of Boston's front office.
If you're talking about any other competition its another story, especially when it comes to rebounds and playing defense.
Defense I totally agree although I think steals, which Toine was very very good at is underrated compared to blocks.

Also didn't Toine average, or at least have years where he averaged, a lot of rebs from the sf spot? Even though he was a few inches shorter than KG?

I'm just saying they're both basically jump shooters. I don't think of jump shooters as intense.

I just see it as sorta calling Deion Sanders intense. I mean yeah the guy played both ways. He returned kicks and punts and had 11 guys trying to tackle him. He was fast as heck and whatnot. Obviously loved what he did including the selfish showboating. But he wouldn't tackle. I just can't see him as intense.

No no no.  The bandaid was great at first. He was bleeding all over the place and returned quickly. He got stitched quickly.

I like KG. He's probably my 4th favorite Celtic or so.  If the band aid is some sort of mind game with the refs I think that's great.

It's just that I think from a neutral point of view we need to recognize that every day in America countless little girls get cut and get stitches and in about 5-7 days they get the stitches out. So I'm kinda wondering why this intensely tough guy is on day 8 or so of this band aid that can be seen from space.

I don't do this to you guys.  Hey man. How come you don't give little girls their due man. Why you gotta hate on little girls man.

I just think it's time to take the band aid off really before the mind game backfires

Eja, I like your sense of humour....but I don't know how to respond to this. Do those little girls that you talk about go back and play a contact heavy sport like basketball immediately after getting the stitches? That comparison is beyond ridiculous.

Actually I always thought stitches were small and staples too. I guess he needs a big band aid.  Pretty slow healing head.  I could be wrong about this.  I'm just not sure. I don't think we'll ever get to see them

I don't think Antoine ever played all that much SF.

He never rebounded well at all for a PF. http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/w/walkean02.html He also didn't get many steals.

Celtics are not winning any championships without him either. Scoring is not his major priority. It is playing tenacious defense which is where he puts most of his intensity and focus on which is why the C's are going nowhere without him. Defense wins championships.

22, 10, and 1.7 in his second year is a phenomenal stat line.

The guy averaged between 8 and 10 for 8 out of his first 9 years in the league. Garnet is obviously the better rebounder as we'd expect. But he averaged between 7.3 and 9 the last 4 years in a row.

So, 13 year old girls are the toughest, followed by KG, followed by you.

....and you got all this because KG has still got a band-aid a week or so after getting the stitches?

When someone starts hating on someone because of a band aid I think there is just no point in arguing with them anymore. As has been said 'hater are gonna hate' no matter what is argued. You can't have a good conversation with anyone who views someone as not being tough based on how long they wear a band aid and how big said band aid is. ::)

He's right though, Toine could never play the small forward spot, and Toine playing the pf and not being a better rebounder hurt the team. Pitino traded for Fortson to help our rebounding but he could never play him and Toine at the same time because they could both really only guard one position, pf.

Not when you're playing 40 minutes at the PF position, on teams that weren't exactly slow paced teams.

His rebound rate peaked in his second year at 15, which is solid for a PF. But after that it was going down nearly two points a year. Antoine played a lot of minutes, so his per game averages always made his rebounding skills look better than they were.
