anythoughts on Jermaines Value?
When Perkins gets back should we trade him?

I know teams like Orlando, Pheniox (who are probly overloaded at the 2/3) and maybe charlote who could use him, could we get a decent pack up for pierce.
I even thought maybe a package with Nate providing delonte could produce well enough at the 1.

anychance we get jameer nelson :D

I don't think teams see him as worth the paper his contract is written on.

JO is done, but his contract isn't terrible so he could probably be moved in a larger trade or for a guy like Al harrington who has a similar dollar but longer contract.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

The problem here is that Danny has made it rather obvious through recent moves that he is absolutely disinterested in taking on money for the future.

So we're likely stuck with JO, since he has no trade value except in bringing back somebody with a worse contract.

We need time to evaluate Perk before even thinking about trading a big man. I mean Semih Erden is starting right now! None of our top 3 centers are 100% healthy, but 3 question marks is better than 2 for sure.

I guess if Perk looks good by the deadline that is enough time to MAYBE look at some options out there but Im not sure JO has any value to a contender and wouldnt save enough immediate money for any teams looking to clear salary.

Right now? No value I'd think.

I would do just about any trade for JO. Wait about a month though and see that he's not coming back next year so someone else can buy out his contract after we trade him.

Mark my words, he won't play anymore than 5 more games this year. He needs to call it quits like Bender did, come back in 5 year for a season just to get the basketball itch out of him, and retire for good.
Can't stop, Rondo!

I think right now I'd hold onto him.

I think people are underestimating the value of potentially having 3 legitimate (4 if you count Semih) centers going into the playoffs.

Sure, in a regular game Perk and Shaq might only play; however, let's not forget the frailty of both of those men AND their propensity to pick up a ton of fouls.

I think Perk and Shaq will both benefit from the knowledge that if they pick up quick fouls against the likes of Dwight Howard, it's really no big deal.

And I don't think it's unreasonable to expect Jermaine to play 10-15 minutes per game on an intermittent basis.

Also, look at it this way.  Had we had the Jermaine O'Neal we saw most of this year in last year's playoffs, it probably would've been enough to get us #18.  If nothing else, the guy can rebound and play defense.

JO has no trade value at this time so any potential deals involving him just because the numbers work are not going to happen.

Rather than kick the guy when he's down like everyone else is doing I'm cheering for the guy to come back healthy.  He's legitimately hurt and can't play; it happens.  I'd be more upset about a guy like Nate who is healthy but underperforming and hurting the team on the floor.

If Rondo, Ray, Paul, KG, Perk, BBD, West, Shaq, JO, Marquis are all healthy, I guarantee you we hang banner 18.  Now obviously you can subtract some names from that list and we could still win, as many of those guys are not make or break guys.  But our strength is our depth, which a healthy JO adds to.  There simply is no team that can match our fully healthy lineup.

Yup.

You can never have enough starting pitching in baseball and you can never have enough true centers on your roster in basketball...there arent many out there.

To me, honestly, JO is more valuable to us than to any other team in this league. And when he comes back for the playoffs we will realize the value he brings as that extra body.

No one wants JO other than DA. Horrible signing that won't help the C's at all. I guess DA was asleep during the playoff series against the Heat last year.
