Wafer is playing a lot better than Nate right now.  I'm all for getting him some minutes.

Amen to that.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

Wafer was +16 tonight. Normally it is pointless to mention a single game +/-, but his contributions were so apparent during his time on the court with rebounds, scoring, and that aggressive plays on offense -- and that steal that led to the and-1.

Hated Wafer at first but I'm coming around on him as he picks up his play.  Without Von we probably don't win tonight.  Hope he can keep it up.

I am starting to wonder if Von's play now (finally) could start the slide of Nate to the end of the bench.

Once Delonte comes back, we can have two guys who can run the offense (West and Daniels) and a more traditional 2-guard in Wafer.

PG West
SG Wafer
SF Daniels

Bigger.
Better Defense.
Better rebounding.

If Wafer continues to attack and defend like he has, I think Nate may get skipped.

Yes.  And in a game where the Celtics were thoroughly out rebounded he was probably the only Celt really attacking the glass in limited minutes.  Great showing for Von.

Don't let one game fool you.  Nate Robinson has always had better rebounding stats (including rebounding rate) than Von Wafer.  So benching Robinson in favor of Wafer in the second unit won't necessarily lead to better rebounding.

Eh, you can't predict future performance based on past stats in this case.  Von was a one-dimensional player in the past - he scored and that's all he cared about.  That hasn't been the case over the last few games, and he has an entirely different purpose and focus now.  He's doing the little things like playing solid defense, keeping the ball moving and crashing the boards.

Also, Von's game tonight wasn't like a lot of the high-rebound games you see from guards, where every long rebound seems to find them even though they didn't necessarily actively go after the rebound.  Von was aggressively crashing the glass tonight, using his athleticism to jump over the crowd and snag them.  A few of them were very impressive boards, actually.

Wafer was great against the Wolves. Good presence on D, smart shots and drives to the hoop... it's good to see him get confident and contribute like a real NBA player.

Now he just has to make his 3's, but I must admit they look very weird to me, especially since he's supposed to be a shooter. His timing looks way off and when he misses (90% of the time) he misses BADLY, like big bricks every time. Strange!

All we need now is for Gody to solidify his value and the C's depth will really be amazing.  As injury prone as they are, they'll likely need it.  (Bradley can wait till next year.)

Id love to see Nate start playing better but this is the NBA and Wafer is performing right now at a time where the team cannpt wait for production.

Doc has waited out cold streaks for longer before but right now, Nate just needs some time off. It isnt just his shooting. Every aspect of his game is ineffective right now.

It took until last night for me, but I'm on the Von Wafer bandwagon. This kid can play on both ends when the effort is there.
