Politicians: Bill Clinton. People talk about how Obama is a powerful orator..but ol Bill..man that guy was something to behold.

Non-Music Entertainers:

Jon Stewart, probably the only man that can interview a sitting democrat president, Bill O'Reiley, actual Kings, and the same boring actors and authors that all talk shows have..and all that AFTER the best 20 mins of current events parody since Chevy Chase hosted Weekend Update.

Brendan Gleeson: I don't even know why, but I love this guy. He can be a complete BA Baracus, or a lonely old man, or whatever.

Steve McQueen: Dude..I don't even know. I'll put Steve McQueen against Russell Crow or any other tough guy movie person, and Steve McQueen completely kills everyone. Except the next guy.

Charles Bronson: The only man tougher than Steve McQueen and Chuck Norris.

Paul Newman: I don't even know where to start with this guy. Just amazing, probably currently my favorite 'actor', now that I'm completely up on his back catalog.

The Character Aldus Snow from Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Get Him To The Greek: This is not to be confused with the puzzled celebrity (he doesn't know if he's a straight-edge rockstar or a niche comedian anymore) Russell Brand. Aldus Snow is awesome.

then, there are the traditional guys I worship..Marlon Brando, Pachino, Deniro, Bogey, etc..

Sports Guys: Shaq, KG (although not until he was a Celtic), Rondo, BBD..probably for reasons everyone is familiar with..after that we got Derrick Thomas. Man I loved Derrick Thomas. Also, I hate to say it but I'm warming up to Ron Artest. I know, he's a Laker..maybe its a forbidden fruit thing, but he's the most interesting person in the NBA as long as he's not actually playing basketball.

Musicians: I'm really having a hard time here. I like a lot of music, but as far as being in love with the person..not really. Some guys in certain moments you're like "I wish I was that dude"..like when the Beatles did the rooftop concert, I really wish I was George Harrison. Easily the coolest guy on stage.

I dunno, there are more. I'm a fickle lover though.
Steve McQueen and Charles Bronson got me researchin.  Turns out Yul Bryner died on the same day in 1985 as Orson Welles.

I take it you already have, but if you've never seen "Bullit", "The Magnificent Seven", and "The Dirty Dozen", run..don't walk, to your local best buy and purchase them. They belong in your library.

I was raised on Magnificent 7, which gives me my new poll.

But I will make Dirty Dozen my new highest priority sir

  • Yup
I can show some love for 3 of the local coaches.  Doc, Francona, and Belichik.  They're all entertaining in their own way and they've been very successful.  Doc especially just seems like he'd be a good guy to hang around with.

Yup

It's because nobody really loves Chuck Norris. Rational people can't help but fear him, and those he's defeated think they love him, but they're just suffering from Stockholm Syndrome.

EDIT: And that might in one paragraph be at once the most corny and witty thing I've said all year. Best to go out with a bang..or a sarcastic whimper. A Bimper.

Johnny Depp

Two questions:

1) Is your love for Johnny Depp tainted or encouraged by the fact that probably his most memorable role (though flawlessly executed) is the product of a Disney World ride, and has gone for 4 increasingly bad sequels?

2) Is anyone else's favorite Johnny Depp role Mort Rainey in secret window, even though he was the 2nd best performance in the movie? (after John Tuturro)

Addendum: Actually, easily my favorite Depp role was Rauol Duke. But I loved secret window.

EDIT: Props though for listing Nathan Fillion, even though we both know you really love Captain Malcolm Reynolds.

I'd like to add Joss Wheadon to my list, but if I did, I feel like somewhere google would book me a flight to comicon and make my girlfriend breakup with me.

I don't know if most memorable is exactly the same thing as most visual and marketed.  Edward Scissorhands was awesome.

1a) Encouraged, his first performance of Jack Sparrow is the third biggest Oscar snub in my lifetime behind Ed Norton in American History X ( Which was a role he had no chance in winning for, no way the academy gives it to a guy who had a swastika on his chest the whole movie) and the Legend Peter O'Toole getting jobbed for Venus. Frankly the first Pirates movie was a tour d'Force for Depp because not only was it a remarkably realized character but it was refreshing to see one of the great character actors (in my mind the greatest) of this generation give a performance of that magnitude without having to find a character who plumbs the depths of human depravity to deliver. It was the acting equivalent of Jordan shrugging his shoulders.

1b) there have only been two sequels that we know the quality of, and I actually liked "At Worlds End".

2) Mine's POTC followed by Blow.

I would have said Mal if I didn't love Castle so much.
