i made a thread a couple weeks ago talking about bradley, wafer, and harangody after the nets game.

i said bradley looked ready to play now, as did wafer, and that harangody looked like a complete bust.

and then i watched last night's game.

harangody definitely shut me up last night. he had no problem stepping into his shot which was nice to see. i dont remember how his defense was.

bradley just got owned last night. i think after teague stripped him of the ball, he lost his confidence for the rest of his playing time. on offense he looks so tentative.

wafer really didnt do much of anything.

last year, when giddens and walker played, they looked tentative out there, almost afraid to have the ball come to them. same thing this year with bradley. is this a trend with our young guys? because of all the HoF guys we have on the team?

In defense of Bradley he hasn't had a chance to pass/fail with playing time.Teague has been playing throughout the season with some decent minutes.Id give the kid more time to get adjusted and there is always the dleague if Doc feels thats where he should be.

We've had some pretty extensive dialogue on how to develop players on this blog in the past.  One side says young guys should see the court until they're ready, the other says that a modest amount of court time can be instrumental in their development.

Count me in the last group.  I wouldn't mind seeing Bradley and Gody get 3-5 minutes in the first half on a regular basis.  I don't think it would kill us, and there's a good chance they'll learn better/faster that way, while eating up a few minutes.

Bradley has looked like a deer in headlights every time he has stepped on the floor.  If there ever were a player that needed to go to the D-league to gain some confidence it is him. 

The other problem with Bradley is I just don't think he is a PG.  His ball handling skills seem to be very similar to Tony Allen's.  He is OK if he is dribbling a couple times on a drive, but as soon as you get him in the open court, it is an abomination.  So, having him play PG right now, is certainly not going to help his confidence...but I just don't think they have much of a choice given the injuries.

BTW, what is this I have been hearing about guys being injured after the first half?  Anyone have details on that?

He's even less of a SG than he's a PG. The problem is, he will never really be a SG.

You reference Giddens and Walker in your post. I don't believe Giddens is even in the league and Walker is glued to the bench in New York. My point -- one reason players don't develop is that they just are not that good.

This bench is going to save the day I believe. Davis is looking like he's going to cost Danny some $$. If Erden keeps this up Perk may have trouble getting onto the floor. He could be a vein of gold for us to mine. Robinson even though not a point guard offers points and excitement. Seems as long as 1 of the Big 3 are on the floor with them they can more than hold their own. Realizing it was only Atlanta, only better days are ahead for the bench players nevertheless.

Doc has won me over totally, his handling of these dudes is exceptionally good.

The greatest stunt I've ever seen be it a shot, pass, whatever, is the stunt Robinson pulled off when Pierce hit the winning shot against the Knicks. This guy is one small Atom Bomb. Pierce was sniffing vapors from Heaven and didn't even know Rovbinson was doing his Evil Knievel act.

I had the same thoughts as above from the luke, bradley & wafer thread earlier.  I had put luke in the same posistion but last night he completely changed my mind, sadly bradley did as well.  Luke imo only made 2 mistakes, 1 turn over and 1 time he boxed out a man who was already boxed out instead of taking space where ball went for rebound pachulla.
Nice game by him which can free up daniels for pg time.  His jumper while ugly is effective, his rebounding i love and he has put the work in on defense.  Bradley I'd give another couple chances then plant him on end of bench.  And my opinion of Wafer is still the same.

Yup.  And 99% of the time, that is exactly the case. 

I think it is way too early to make any definitive statements on Bradley's future, particularly since he missed the whole summer and most of training camp.  But he certainly is not looking great at the moment.

Harangody has potential to be as good as Scal, I think at the worst.  He doesn't have Scal's IQ but he has a better motor.  I think we need to be playing Bradley more to check him out.  But we have not been able to seperate lately in the games to play the rooks a whole lot.  These guys would never have seen the light of day without the injuries though.  Doc doesn't like Rooks, I think.  I recall him sitting Rondo who was clearly better for Telfairy.

Erden has been a pleasant surprise, I had really low expectations for him.  He is better than Greg Kite definitely runs the floor well and is athletic.  He is a banger and doesn't mind contact.  Not all world but not horrible either.

Grass is always greener, and peeps always lament those who got away.  I have not got to attached to anyone on our bench save Posey, Nate, Sheed or Big Baby the last few years.  I could care less about Giddens or Bill Walker.  I don't miss TA as he was a one sided specialist and the same is true of Eddie who was a specialist of the opposite sort.   

Big Baby is our best bench player and Nate is probably our second best player.  We have a strong bench overall when we are healthy and it will be better with Perk and the O'Neal's get back.  Right now the cupboard is bare and we are thin.  Daniels has been better this year but I don't think Doc trusts him completely.

That will happen with 19th level pick talents. Still I think his excellent defensive ability will keep him in the league.

He can shoot (not three point range but he has a good pull up game) and defend. Those two things will keep you on a roster.

Oh, I still have high hopes for the kid.  I am just saying that he is no where near ready right now, and looks terrible at the moment. 

I am sure he is hoping as much as anyone that West hurries back, so he can get his feet wet in Portland for a bit.  Even watching him in warmups, he looks completely overwhelmed at the moment.
