Here's that the Knicks will eventually work out some sort of a deal with Carmelo this season. They are currently the 6th seed in the East, though it is highly likely that other teams in the East may make a run and challenge their regular season record.

Quite a few teams that currently have worse records than the Knicks have been playoff-level teams throughout last decade so the fact that Amare has helped turn that team into something that even resembles a playoff franchise says something about him as a player.

If the Knicks go into sort of a slump as far as wins are concerned, Carmelo may be less inclined to sign with them at the trade deadline and instead wait until next season.

I for one am hoping that the Celtics can defeat the Knicks on Wednesday; that could just be one less Eastern Conference team that we'd have to worry about in the post season  ;)
If the D'Anotini Knicks beat the celtics, it will be the upset of the season to date!

I think the Cavs win over the C's was probably the biggest upset of the season. Or maybe the Clippers beating the Spurs?

I do think the C's should win against NY, but we could struggle if Shaq is still out.

Anybody else sick of this from athletes.

Devil's advocate:  If Carmelo has his mind made up that he's signing with the Knicks in the off-season, isn't it better if he's honest with the Nuggets about that, rather than going the Lebron route?

Absolutely. At least he's showing the Nuggets honesty and respect if he truly has no interest in resigning there.

At the time, the celtics were 1-0 and the Cavs 0-0, so I don't see that one.

You're right, Clips over Spurs trumps my point - that of the Defenseless Knicks beating the Defensefull C's

Somebody else made a good point in noting that Melo is totally destroying any leverage Denver might have in trade talks by coming out and saying he'll only sign an extension with NY.

If he's decided he's going to leave his team, then fine.  But it adds insult to injury by basically forcing his team to deal with only one other team in trade talks, and severely limiting any leverage his team might have in getting something out of losing him.

Chicago and New Jersey still called "viable" trade partners:

Perhaps it's wishful thinking on Isola's part, but I tend to agree with Chris: the Knicks (or people close to them) are trying to turn up the heat on the Nuggets.

  • Let's Go Celtics!
1. Until Melo goes on the record with something like this (which he will never do), I don't believe this is anything more than a planted story to pressure the Nuggets to make a trade with the Knicks...with perhaps the Knicks behind it.

2. If another team trades for Melo, and he likes the situation/team, I am not sure he will turn down the opportunity to get an extension on the current CBA, over trying to sign one on the new CBA, which could be for significantly less money/years.

So, basically, I think we are the same place we were a few days ago.  We all know Melo likes the Knicks...but I don't think he is dead set on going there.

Exactly.
I still think if Chicago got into the mix for him, he'd happily go there. But Denver doesn't want anything that Chicago has (they've turned down Luol Deng/Taj Gibson/first rounders).

I think there's still a few teams, like Dallas, who would risk trading for him and hoping he like the situation.

Call me crazy, but I just don't think Melo to NY is such a done deal just yet.

Better for us than Orlando.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

If he goes to Chicago, that would be flat out frightening. Rose, Carmelo, Boozer, Noah (if not included in deal), good role players, good coach. I don't think that happens, though.

Even going to New York should make them a 3/4 seed in the East. Amare is playing out of his mind. Carmelo, Amare and Felton definitely works.
