I'm opposed to having NBA teams in Europe.  Europe already has successful professional leagues.  Wanting to get a piece of that pie makes no sense to me.

On the other hand, I would love for the NBA to get involved in a true professional league World Championship.  That would be the best way to bring the world basketball community together.  The NBA champs would surely win the title for the first few years, but I think it would motivate Europe to eventually catch up.

Basketball; the international game.

personally, i wouldnt like it. the league is watered down enough.  if anything, i think the league would benefit from eliminating a couple teams to make the league more balanced and competitive.  as far as adding international teams....i think teams in canada, mexico, or caribbean would be ok, but nothing beyond that.

Agreed, I could go for eliminating some teams to improve the overall talent level

agreed on this. kinda like UEFA where top teams of professinal leagues compete against each other for one World Championship. A lot of people would watch this, and NBA will make money off of it too.

there are so many different leagues in Europe - the NBA should simply work with them to coordinate a centralized Euro-league

then every year, we could have a competition between the NBA champs and the Euro champs to determine the World Champs

just an idea

This. But maybe every two years. Include the champions of South American and Turkish and Chinese League too maybe. Selection would be, the champion teams of the past two years for every pro leagues in the world qualifies. Then either a group stage then knockout style format or straight up ala NCAA knockout. It'll bring the fans of the world tuning in to one tournament every couple years. Will bring money to the leagues too.

They already have a centralized Euroleague called the, well, I think exactly that, The Euroleague where the best teams from each country's Leagues get together for an extended tournament and duke it out to see who claims the crown of European Champs.

So, yeah, let's do it.

This league needs contraction not expansion.

Getting rid of the Hornets and Bobcats would be a good place to start.

I'd rather see Semih Erden playing against the Turkish Club Champions.

Why? The league is very talented right now up and down, probably the deepest it's been in two decades. Why contract the Hornets? They're a winning team, for one thing. Move, maybe. But contract?
