Two completely different players. The +/- has just about as much to do with the different teams as it does anything. Rose is phenomenal, don't kid yourselves.

He may be great but Rondo's gotten the better of him twice in spite of Rondo's battling through health issues. It's no fluke.

Rondo also got the better of him in the playoffs.

Rondo's a better player at this point, though Rose's ceiling is higher due to his superior athletic ability.

I don't know that he's really that superior athletically to Rondo. Plus, if you're looking for Rondo's ceiling, you really won't see it until he's on a team where he looks for his own offense a little more.

There's a new pantheon of top PG's, and that includes CP, DW and RR.  DR, RW and JW are among the challengers from the tier below.

Rose's combination of speed, power, grace and incredible explosiveness make him the premiere athlete in the game.

Rondo's a great athlete but not quite on Rose's level.  Fortunately, he more than makes up for that with his superior skill level, basketball intelligence and fiestiness.

It's also what sets him apart from Westbrook, who bests Rondo athletically and plays with more fire than Rose but doesn't have anything close to Rondo's basketball brain.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

Rondo will never be the same sort of scorer that Rose is, Rose also has superior defensive potential with his superior length/size.

I think Rondo is more likely to reach his ceiling myself, I don't like how Rose hasn't improved as a passer/creator all that much this year. He plays like a mini-LeBron at times.

Rondo is an amazing talent.  He is also in a great situation.  Big 3 withstanding, Rondo has benefitted tremdously from playing for Doc.  Doc has been the perfect coach for him.  Being a fromer pg, and pretty good too, in addition to his ability to coach stars and get them to play team ball, has helped make Rondo the player he is.

That, and Rondo is really good.

Rondo's length/standing reach are about the same as Rose's I believe, if not slightly better.  Rose is beefier, but I think Rondo's quick, huge hands make up that gap.

Vertical leap and graceful hang-time really don't lend too many advantages on the defensive end.

Rondo will never be the same scorer that Rose is, but Rose will never be the same "insert practically anything but scorer" that Rondo is. Rose may have superior length/size, but that doesn't beat out Rondo's quickness, anticipation or knowledge of the game. Rondo's been a good/great defender since he came into the league.

First of all, a lot of what Rondo does isn't based on athleticism. Secondly, quickness, agility and dexterity are athletic traits, not just running fast and jumping high.

People tend to get overwhelmed by talent, and it makes them forget that talent is only useful when it's used right.

That's what the Rose/Rondo debate boils down to--Rose is the more talented of the two, but Rondo is BY FAR the more intelligent and resourceful one, meaning that he gets much more out of his talent than Rose ever can.  It's great to be talented, but it's far more important to have the ability to use that talent tastefully.

Going forward, Rondo's always going to have the edge mentally, and assuming they remain relatively equal as athletes that means Rondo's always going to have the edge on the court for as long as they both play.

Folly. Persist.

When you say Rose is more talented than Rondo, you have to consider that Rondo's the better passer, rebounder, ballhandler and defender.
