Here's one thing i havnt seen that much talk about lately and its the only thing that worrys me this season.

What happens when Perk is back? right now everything is going smooth, we are getting way more out of Shaq than we thought, he is clearly not a distraction in the locker room infact he's only added positive things to it from what we read.

But thats what worrys me, Perk said with authority early in the season that there was nothing to debate, it was his starting job and im not arugeing with that as we need his defense in the playoffs.

But.. there's that feeling! that nagging feeling! what happens when he comes back? does he just add to our bigmen complexity? and will Shaq just sit down on the bench without making a drama out of things?

That is the only thing that worrys me? question is.. does it worry you Celticsblog?

Not at all.

I want Perk to get healthy first. After that, we'll see whether he should start or not.

His health is the prime concern.

When Perk comes back he will be the second big off the bench for the rest of the season, next season he will start.

not exactly worried about chemistry, but the timing of everything might be key

if he comes back and is less than 100% and Shaq is doing well and Jermaine is healthy, then Doc might be forced to bring him off the bench and he'd have to suck it up

on the other hand, the chances of all 3 guys being healthy at the same time still seem slim to me, so lets just see how it plays out first

Doc still has the option to make Perkins a starter in name only and just ride whichever hand is clicking that night

Hate to give this one to ya, but good point. He might be forced back into the rotation. Bah. Don't hope so.

Perk will essentially take Semih's spot when he returns.  That's being a spot starter when JON is injured or SON needs rest, or being the 3rd option when both are healthy.

I wanna see how well we can still defend D12 and the Magic with Shaq at Center and not Perkins.

Honestly, as long as Perkins isnt coming back right before the playoffs are about to begin, I dont see a problem putting him back as a starter as long as hes 100%.  I think Shaq will take it like a man and come off the bench, I really dont see him causing that much trouble over it.

The real losers in this situation will ultimately be Jermaine and Big Baby

Dwight has historically had trouble when facing Jermaine, Shaq, and Perk.

Dwight's gonna hate playing the C's this year.  He's not built to bang with true centers, guys who wear him down.  And now we've got the biggest and baddest in one place.  Howard's an amazing player, but he isn't going to enjoy going up against the Green if we have any of our power rotation healthy.

I would prefer using Shaq to START, because he seems to be a beast when his tank is full those first 6 minutes.

Starting the fourth quarter with Shaq and Pierce would be nice, so they can get the C's into the penalty quick(er).

But it depends on the matchup. I can't see Shaq doing a better job than Perk on D12 or Bynum, but we will see soon enough.

I think with a few-possession lead late in the 4th, it's Perk's game to finish.

Either way, it's a good problem to have, and I highly doubt there will be any real chemistry issues. Shaq won't be offended if Perk gets the nod to start because he knew that going in. If Perk has to come off the bench, I assume he will understand it's for the betterment of the team.

The two are already good friends, in fact, Shaq is almost always sitting next to Perk when he's on the bench ... I doubt there will be any chemistry problems, no matter which way they decide to go. Shaq came here under the pretense of coming off the bench, so if he had to go back to that role, I doubt there'd be any problems.

Agree with this.

Agree...(hopefully) we'll have 4 seven footers to throw at him this time....no more concussions for the likes of Marquis.

They should ease Perk back in but he's the starter when he's healthy and deservedly so. Let Shaq come off the bench and feast against backups, especially in the playoffs. JO is the odd man out, but he's good if we have foul trouble and we can also play around with him spelling KG. We should throw him against Pau when we play the Lakers to see how he matches up.

I don't think chemistry will be an issue. Everyone wants to win. Everyone seems to trust Doc and the system. And after the success they've had, the guys who've been around definitely do and they can keep everyone in line.

But what if he didn't? Perk getting "demoted" is the only thing that semi-worries me. He's had some comments before the season started about how he is the starter and didn't sound like it was open for debate in his eyes.

And technically Shaq wouldn't be going back to that role, as he never came off the bench with us (yet). He'd be going back to that premise, but I think when he signed he had ideas of playing with the Big Four and not Nate, BBD, 'Quis, and West.
