Lebron is the best player in the league and it is getting a little bit tiring to see that he seems to get the blame even when he has a phenomenal game.

Does Haslem just magically become open or do the Celtics absolutely have to respect the Lebron threat?

Does Lebron deserve the blame for the Heat defense acting like every Ray Allen back door screen is the first one they have ever seen?

I strongly dislike the Heat, but definitely not as much as most of the basketball world right now.
For most of us, you can't be "the best player in the league" when your stats are padded by superstar calls, you don't make your teammates better, and you don't lead your team to playoff series wins.

As Drucci and I have already pointed out, where's the evidence that he worked on his game this summer?

3-pt shooting, 27.6%, 5.2 % below his career number.
FG%, .44, down 3.4%
He was 0-5 from the arc, had 4 TOs to go with his 9 assists, and missed 5 fts in a 5-pt loss.

to indulge in piling on is mean-spirited and cowardly. Would like to see Wojo be a man and tell Lebron to his face what he writes in his columns.

Cowardly? This is one of the more often used word on this site. How is Woj cowardly? Please look up the definition of coward before you use it to label others. I know Woj has been writing articles with the same kinda tone and theme for quite sometime now....it is boring...but not cowardly.

Do you know any journalist who criticizes a player in person (tell LeBron to his face as you say it) instead of an article ? He is a journalist...not a heckler.

Wojo is not a coward.  He is one of few who has the guts to call it like it is out there.  Most of them are afraid of angering Drag Queen James and he will cut them out.

LeBron is the coward that left CLE at 3 am in the morning.   He won't stay on the court after a loss. He is hoping Dwanye Wade can win him a championship.  This guy is the biggest wuss I have ever seen that is considered a superstar.   Did you see him clutch his jaw when it didn't get hit the other night, after he got the call.   I bet he would wet his pants if Wojo told him to his face.

James deserves everything he is getting.   He has been touted as an all time great but to me he is an all time flake.  He doesn't care about winning, quits on his team, is a poor leader and is mentally weak. You could see it in  his eyes at times last night.  The only thing he did right was keep driving because he knew David's Dirty Refs would pad his stats.  It helped them get back into the game, but LeBron could not deliver a back breaking shot to get his team back into the game.

I found these columns refreshing in the age of kiss butt media.  Like it or not that was a good dose of the truth.  Who really touts yahoo sports as a top media anyway.   Have internet media surpassed the TV or print media, I think not.

I agree with a lot of what you said here. Just to add to your first paragraph, Lebron's game hasn't developed much in the last 3 or 4 years. The greats would always find a way to improve and get better because their hunger and love for the game was so intense. This guy probably doesn't pick up a basketball during the summer. Wojo's right too, where's the accountability?
Certainly looks like he prioritized partying over practicing.

Same bad ft shooting, same bad 3-pt shooting, same bulldozing for whistles.

If he worked on developing a post game, with his size and speed it would be SO difficult to guard - but the amount of work it would take to accomplish that he apparently doesn't consider "fun".

Exactly. He still has no post game. How isn't that the main focal point of his last couple off-seasons?

The Cavs never won any playoff series? You sure you want to stick with that one?

Most players don't see big jumps in their stats when they've been starters in the league for 7 years. They hopefully play better overall, but don't put up better stats. Remember he's younger than Jordan was when he won his first title and he's younger than Bird or Magic were when they won their first MVP award.

All Lebron did to get his points was bulldoze into defenders and get the calls he did not deserve.  ::)

The messiah benefits from overt, unsurpassed, and unrivaled officiating bias and still isn't the best player in the league.  He's looking more and more like Iverson.  A self-promoting stat hound who will never win anything.

Exactly. Imagine if he'd work on developing a mid-range game or a pull-up J. Not yet.

\]Good teams will live with Lebron and Wade shooting contested three’s. And neither of them are very effective when they are off the ball. When Lebron has the ball at the top of the key the defense is going to load up the strong side so he can’t drive in, Wade’s lack of an outside threat is going to allow his defender to cheat in even easier. If LBJ drives and then kicks it out to Dwayne a smart defender will close out under control, essentially daring Wade to shoot the jumper, it’s been proven that this is a percentage you can live with in the long run. The exact same thing holds true for Wade with the ball, and LeBron off of it.

The Heat would be better if it was Wade/Pierce or LeBron/Ray.

Right--they duplicate each other.  Getting Mike Miller back will help some. But LBJ and DW need to figure out how to be on the court together and work off the ball to become deadly.

Wojo is a one trick pony.  It's pretty tiresome.  ::)

While I agree with Waj on this one, there's no question in my mind that he's a front runner. And likes to get the boot in. Like in the playoffs last year, when Boston was up, he was up on Boston, and on them when they lost. That do get old.

Good Article.

The paragraph in which Wojo slams Lebron for not taking any blame can be strengthened by this video;

Look, I hate Lebron but some of the stuff I've read in this thread is simply not true.

1. He's not lazy. He's an extraordinarily well-conditioned player.

2. The calls he got against us were, while incredibly frustrating, mostly deserved. As Kevin Durant said, "getting to the free throw line is part of my game." The same applies to Lebron.

3. "working" for 35, 10, and 9 is still 35, 10, and 9.

I could use a long list of expletives to describe Lebron James, But let's stick to criticizing him for things based in reality. Anything else makes us look bad and only gives ammunition to Lebron fan boys.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

Thanks for posting this....TP. LBJ contradicting himself..lol...nothing new though.

He wants to play 48 mins in a blowout/comfortable win....and less minutes when he knows the oppostion will beat him. He should know better...when you point a finger at someone else, the other 3 are pointing back at you.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Eh, the fact that all of the Celtics came together and played well as a team is a big reason they won. The Heat came fairly close to winning last night and everyone not named Lebron (or Haslem) played like crap. Is it Lebron's fault that the Heat haven't learned to play together (and may never get to their full team potential), maybe, but Spoelstra should take some of the blame, too. Doc has done a wonderful job orchestrating all of these personalities in Boston, and while the Heat still have the ability, it could end up just like Cleveland.
