I dont think Delonte will be released. Doc and Danny know  just how valuable he is to the second unit. I do think he will be disciplined behind closed doors though.

Maybe had this stayed out of the media, Delonte would be kept and punished quitely, but, now that it's out, I don't see how they can keep him.  I really wish they had dumped Wafer aafter their first dust-up.  Wafer is useless, and obviously doesn't get along with Delonte.  C's could have nipped this in-the-bud, had they just cut Wafer. It's not as if he has contributed anything of value so far with Delonte out on suspension.

True.

Even if West threw the first punch, I wouldn't be surprised if he was provoked by Wafer, who also had issues in the past.

Let's wait for more reliable information before saying who should or shouldn't be released.
The Immortals:

Iker Casillas, Giacinto Facchetti, Alessandro Nesta, Matthias Sammer, Javier Zanetti, Lothar Matthäus (c), Xavi, Zico, Maradona, Roberto Baggio, Ferenc Puskas, Karl Heinz Rummenigge

Ah, a punch here and there between teammates ...

There is still a very good chance that they can fix this without having to move someone.

There could be a silver lining:  If we release Delonte, it'll free us up to offer a contract to Gerald Green  ;D

Your humor is definitely welcomed at this time. :)

Humor aside, I hope we don't release him before we see what he can do.  But if a non-guaranteed guy problems is throwing punches at a guaranteed guy, well, the non-guaranteed guy is probably gonna go.

Call me old-fashioned, but I think there´s no way we can keep someone who threw punches at a teammate.

Off the top of my head, Michael Jordan and Kevin Garnett (in Minny) both punched teammates in practice.  Scuffles are pretty common, but superstars obviously get a much longer leash than end-of-bench guys.

True, just look at Kobe, but West isn´t MJ, he´s already on a short leash.
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

Suspend Delonte for 8 games (concurrent with his NBA suspension....then when he comes back, suspend Wafer for 8 games.   See who earns the spot!

I hate to defend Delonte if he is the aggressor. But he hasn't shown anything that indicates being a locker room cancer. He is the ultimate team player. Can't say that about Von. He butted heads with teammates and coaches in the past far too many. And his attitude this year hasn't been great. I'm sure he was the one to provoke West. Based on that history, Von is the common denominator. Von should be released.

Losing Delonte West would be a big blow to the bench.

The C's need to keep West. They need to talk it out and get both players to agree to drop any animosity and shake on it.

No need to waive anyone ... unless things escalate further.

I agree that no one should jump to conclusions.  Fights aren't all that uncommon.  Look at baseball players....they fight in the dugout from time to time....

While I'm biased towards Delonte, I'm not going to assume I know anything about Wafer.  But what I do know is that Wafer has stuck almost nowhere he's ever played, and Delonte has stuck with a few teams.  Also, I know that Wafer isn't all that good.

I pray we keep Delonte.

Normally, I would agree.  But given Delonte's history, he is going to have a tough sell.  Much like with Telfair, Delonte was put on a short leash when he came back here.  Regardless of what Doc and Danny want, Wyc might step in, if he doesn't feel he can trust Delonte.

Lockerroom fights happen.  But they shouldn't happen with guys who are trying to show they have matured and are mentally stable.

Much rather keep Delonte but the Kennedy report suggests Delonte has been problematic for multiple players on the team, not just Wafer.

Waiting to see what Forsberg and Flannery have to say before making up my mind but it certainly looks bad for Delonte...

If the Kennedy report is accurate, and Delonte really attacked Wafer from behind in the locer room, the guy should be out of here fast. You simply cannot have this crap.

Don't think this kind of thing was that uncommon in the past.

Wouldn't have surprised me if Ainge and Bird went at it a few times back in the day. Both of them were extremely cocky and wouldn't back down for anything.

Quote
Less than one week after tempers flared during a two-on-two game in practice, Delonte West and Von Wafer had another altercation earlier this afternoon.

During a three-on-three game with Avery Bradley, Luke Harangody, Semih Erden and assistant coach Tyronn Lue, West began fouling Wafer each time the reserve guard touched the ball. West was increasingly physical to the point that Wafer exited to the locker room midway through the game. As he walked away, West barked obscenities and taunted Wafer.

After Wafer had showered and sat down at his locker, West approached from behind and threw a punch. Wafer didn't see the punch coming but quickly got off of the ground and connected on two punches of his own. He then wrestled West to the ground before being separated by the team's veterans.

Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce were very unhappy with the incident, especially since it occurred just hours before a game. Doc Rivers met with the players and tried smooth things over shortly after.

Sources close to the situation say that the Danny Ainge and the Celtics have grown tired of West's confrontations with teammates and are considering releasing the point guard. West is on a non-guaranteed contract and his distractions could result in that deal being terminated.

West has gotten into skirmishes with multiple teammates this season and his confrontational ways have grown old very quickly in the locker room. He is currently serving a ten-game suspension after pleading guilty to weapons charges in July.

This stinks!  I didn't like the Delonte signing because I thought he was crazy, but I didn't sweat it because we need him.  Now he pulls this stunt. >:(

Well, I would say that a fist fight after they already hda previous dust up, is, an escalating problem  What next?  Delonte bringing a gun to practice and pulling an "Arenas"?

I like Delonte, but this looks really bad on his part.  Wafer is so saint either, and I think the C's should cut him too, if they are going to cut anyone.

Should have never signed Wafer anyhow. He has never played quality role player basketball on my eyes, I truly think he thinks he is a star. Honestly Gerald Green does run laps around that scrub!
