This is going to be a scary duo and I expect to see some highlights from these two throughout the season. I expect to see that low pick and roll with Rondo lobbing up an oop to Shaq many times this year.
Right. I don't think alley-oops from Rondo to Shaq are the keys to us winning it all this season. He'll finish just fine, but you can't have a 38-year old, 350-pound center as the focal point of your offense: the days when you could throw it down to Shaq all night and let him do his thing are far gone.
Luckily, it seems like the team is taking the right approach to the Shaq: use him situationally -- for easy looks and getting the opposition into foul trouble, then pull him out when his stamina and free throw shooting will make him a liability.
Of course, how well this is going to work throughout the season depends on how well we're able to defend when Shaq is out there. The Heat had no idea how to exploit Shaq's defensive limitations, but even in a game like this it is painfully obvious that if nothing else, the guy is a defensive-three violation waiting to happen.
