I am a subscriber to league pass on dish network.  I am thinking of moving to directv.
A couple of questions for those using directv:
1.On dish network, when the game is being broadcast by the other team's announcers, I can't watch the game on CSNNE. After 2.5 hrs, then I can watch it on both the league pass channel and CSNNE. On directv, is this also true? Or is it true that I can see the whole game on CSNNE even if league pass chooses the other team's announcers?

2.If a game is on ESPN (not TNT)can I also watch it on CSNNE after 2.5 hrs on directv?

Thanks.

I've had both services and League Pass is handled the same way on both as far as what announcers you get. (Usually the home team)
I'm unaware of the 2.5 hour later thing your talking about.

Stick with Dish Network I find their prices and service to be a much better deal overall.

I have direct tv and you can watch the entire games on any channel that broadcasts the games without any issues or waiting time like the 2.5 hours you were talking about.

It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

The 2.5 hrs I'm referring to is if a game starts at 6:30 and is being broadcast by the other team's announcers, at 9:00 I can watch it on CSNNE as well as on the league pass channel.  I'm wondering if this is also true on directv.  Another thing I'm wondering is if league pass has the other team's announcers can I have the choice of watching the game on league pass or CSNNE. Dish Network doesn't give me that choice until after 2.5 hrs after the game starts.

I'm wondering how this is handled on directv.

Dish Network doesn't give me that choice until after 2.5 hrs after the game starts.

I'm wondering how this is handled on directv.

It is handled the same way on DirecTV. League Pass is handled by the NBA and then the satellite providers pass it on.

DirecTV doesn't offer you a choice of broadcast. It is the same on both providers. If the game is a national broadcast then you have to watch it on the national channel.

Example. I live in the Memphis market area. If the Celtics are playing on ESPN, ABC, or TNT then I have to watch on those Channels, even if I have NBA League Pass.

If the Celtics are playing in, say, Houston, then I have to watch them with the Houston Rockets broadcasters and no choice is given. (Usually, they will offer the home team announcers, although sometimes there are exceptions.)

This is the case on either Dish-network or DirecTV. Like I say, the NBA offers the League Pass package as somewhat of a vendor and then the satellite providers pass it on.

However, since I live in the Memphis market. Then any Grizzlies game that is televised I can watch on the local broadcast and get Grizzlies announcers for every game. Even if they are on ABC, ESPN or TNT.

Hope that helps. But the satellite service provider doesn't change the way NBA League Pass operates.

I'd stick with what I have if I were you.

Bright House cable gives you a choice between both broadcasts (except when the game is nationally televised i.e. ESPN or TNT)... I think it started last season or the one b4. I find it weird it's not the same with satellite?? I'm glad they have it b/c some team's broadcasters need to QUIT... they can be plain horrid!

No LP 4 me yet. The first preseason game will be on TNT. It's probably another week b4 I can get LP. I call to order daily, so far they don't even know when it will be available... shame, considering this isn't the first year offering LP. GET IT TOGETHER CABLE PPL!!

I wish I could get CSNNE, but I don't trust satellite reception in my city, so cable/fios are the only viable options. Most other non-Celtics games I could do without, and most of the marquee games are nationally televised anyway

Yakmanev basically summed up everything nicely.

More and more games available on League Pass are available with both broadcasts, so it shouldn't be that big of a deal. I too definitely prefer the C's broadcast, but it is sometimes nice to hear what other broadcasters think of our team (note sometimes, as some are flat out horrible).

And as for the first preseason game, I checked my cable guide and it doesn't show an NBA game on TNT that night, but it is showing up on the Celtics website, but not ESPN's. I just checked TNT's website and they don't have a game that night either, so I'm guessing it is a mistake on the celtics.com website.

The Nets game on Thursday will be on NBATV.

If its on Celtics.com pretty sure its official, they probably just landed the spot. I've seen TNT programming changeup before

  • GOT IT!!!
Directv started to show a lot more Home and Away feeds for all NBA games last season. They put up a new satellite recently so they have more capacity so I don't see that changing.

CSNNE is usually blacked out and you are forced to watch the League Pass channels. Sometimes it is not though.

Ive had DirecTV for the past 10 years and it is simply unbeatable. Unless a game is being covered by a major/national network (i.e. ESPN, TNT, NBC, etc...) then you can watch it on whatever channel you want. I prefer Mike & Tommy so I always try to watch on CSNHD (ch 630).

I will agree with this... i switched after 2 years from Dish --> DirectTv and ended up switching back 5 weeks later (DirectTV lied about my local chanels being avail, and ended up being more expensive.) I switched even though i had to pay $400 to get out of the contract (another thing DTV lied misrepresented).
