I would think that Denver would ask for Ariza in return, rather than West.

Thornton, Peja, Ariza, and a future 1st for Melo and Smith?

CP3
Smith
Melo
West
Okafor

Not a bad starting 5, but no bench.

Even better. Like many of you here, not Ariza Fan. Give me the knucklehead (Smith) over that punk.

Since the West is considerably weaker, it makes more sense if those two teamup & try to pull off an upset over the Lakers. Then have to go through Bulls, Celtics, Heat.....

Lineup:

Cp3
Ariza
Melo
Peja
Okafor

Now we're talking! I like it.

I think you're missing one team in there.  ;D  Poor Orlando, they're the forgotten child.

I'd really love for at least one other true powerhouse in the West to make things a little more difficult for the Lakers.  Spurs, Mavs, Suns, Blazers, and Nuggets haven't been able to truly stand in the way of the Lakers the last few years, and I'd love Carmelo to stay in the West if he is traded.

I'm all for Melo to the Hornets if they can find a way to make it work...not that it would necessarily turn them into a powerhouse that can beat the Lakers.

Solved it, add Philly:

New Orleans Sends: David West, Marcus Thorton, Peja Stojakovic, #1 pick, Quincy Pondexter
New Orleans Recieves: Carmelo Anthony, Mareese Speights, JR Smith

Dever Sends: Carmelo Anthony, JR Smith
Denver Recieves: Andre Igoudala, Marcus Thornton, Peja Stojakovic

Philadelphia Sends: Andre Igoudala, Mareese Speights
Philadelphia Recieves: David West, Quincy Pondexter, NO #1

New Orleans:

CP3
Ariza / JR Smith
Melo
Speights
Okafor

Philly:

Holliday / L. Williams
Turner
Pondexter
West / Hawes
Brand

NO #1 pick

Denver:
Billups
Afflalo
Igoudala / Peja
K-Mart / Harrington
Anderson / Nene

EDIT: Again, I can't access trade checker so I'm sure these numbers would need a tad bit of tweaking. But if my math is correct, not all that much.

Why is NO even in this deal then?  If Philly is giving up Iggy and Speights, they should be the ones getting back Melo.  Just cut out the middle man and send Iggy, Speights, Kapono, and a pick for Melo and Smith.

Because Melo wouldn't resign in Philly.

Because Melo wouldn't resign in Philly.

Philly wouldn't trade Iggy for JR... and they already have one under performing big man named Elton Brand.

Become Legendary.

Ya, I was a little off. Reworked it a tad.

But Philly gains a decent amount here. They're getting out of Igoudala's contract, gaining a #1 pick, a #1 pick in Quincy Pondexter and a pretty talented player in David West, who also has a pretty friendly/movable contract.

I don't think Philly views Iggy as a bad contract they're trying to move.

If they're trading him they want value back.

It's not neccesarily a bad contract, but one they'd have to move if they want to be a winning team again unless by some miracle they can move Brand.

I fail to see how giving up a good young player like Iggy for such garbage return will help them win now or in the future.

Better to hold onto Iggy and wait if they can't get something of value. Iggy has more value than David West after all.
