Why would it be profitable?  Reports are that the Van ran a red light which resulted in the accident.

Im guilty of not reading the report...

I was responding to Redz comment of Brady broadsiding him. Well if the van ran a red light, then yes I would be more concerned with Brady. The northeast has the worst drivers in the country.

I don't want to hijack this thread, but that is inaccurate and actually the opposite is true.

MA is supposed to be low on fatalities because its roads are too congested to get much speed going--but it is high on accidents and traffic infractions.

Do you have any numbers on that compared to other states?  And what speed is needed to have a fatal car accident?  You're saying that MA is so congested that no one can drive above 40 anywhere in the state and that's why there isn't many fatalities?

That's a pretty broad statement about MA roads being too congested to get anything going.

Go out to Central and Western MA.  People fly on those roads and, oftentimes, there is no congestion even during rush hour.

Route 2 past tghe 495 corridor comes to mind.  Get past Fitchburg and its a real racetrack.  190 is another highway you can fly on.

Massachusetts drivers are the worst drivers in New England, with Rhode Island drivers come in second place.

LOL....

-Hard to get in an accident when traffic is moving along at a brisk 15mph clip 12 hours out of the day.

-Hard not to stay alert when you have to stop every 10 minutes to pay tolls.

It's interesting to note that my cousin, who is my age and has an identical spotless driving record, pays just under 4 times more what I do for identical auto insurance.  She being in the 5th "safest" state to drive and me being in, well, my state isn't on either list....So Iowa musn't be safe nor unsafe.

Must be what that idiot Flo means when she talks about "safe driver discount".

Because I couldn't find data from the same years in both states this will have to do until you can show me numbers otherwise.

Iowa (2000): total accidents: 64613
population: 2926324
accidents per person: .0221

Connecticut (2006): total accidents 74172
population: 3504809
accidents per person: .0212

So people in Iowa in 2000 were ~4% more likely to get in an accident than people in Connecticut in 2006.

Take it for what you may, but please provide stats that show otherwise if you want to refute rather than just making blanket statements.

The reports of injuries were mis reported- the other driver was the one with the injuries and taken to the hospital.  I've heard Brady is already at Gilette.

yup, that's what WEEI was saying.

I hated the whole tone they were taking "Oh thank goodness Tom's OK" while not knowing much about the person he apparently broadsided and needed to be extracted from the vehicle with the jaws of life.

That is the nature of Boston sports I guess. It is unfortunate but if the person is okay after this, getting broadsided by Tom Brady most likely will be pretty profitable. It will also be a great story.

Why would it be profitable?  Reports are that the Van ran a red light which resulted in the accident.

Yeh, sorry `bout that.  At that point all I'd heard was that he'd broadsided the other car - which at face value seems like it would be his fault, until you get that minor detail about the other driver running a red light at high speed.

This is why I still try to look both ways when I'm going through a green light at an intersection - especially when my kids are in the car.

By the way, back to the topic at hand, Brady was seen throwing footballs and otherwise participating fully in practice.  So it does indeed seem he is okay.

Man, glad both are okay.
I wonder if this will speed along Brady's signing of a contract and I also wonder if Brady is worse-off than the (revised) news reports would have one believe.

If he's at Gillette, odds are the reports of his health are probably accurate.  If anything was serious,  he'd be getting treated at a hospital not a training room (even if its at the professional sports level)

Really thank God both are ok!  Seriously.  And I guess it did speed up the contract negotiations as the deal is done and will be anounced tomorrow.  I think the deal was set all along and the i's just needed to be dotted and the t's crossed.

can you imagine if he got badly injured before that thing was signed?
Yup

no doubt, I stated my opinion earlier about how much more concerned everyone was about Brady than the other driver.  I was more thinking about the unimaginable irony of him getting hurt off field the day before signing a long term deal.
