If you just looked at individual scoring you can make a case for Nate.

http://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/tiny.cgi?id=2gxoh

TS% is slightly better than Rondo's and he also takes a lot more shots so he scores more.

But when it comes to assists, turnovers, rebounds, steals, running an offense, defense, character, and leadership Rondo is vastly superior.

I'll also add that Rondo is paid 10+ million a year and Robinson is paid 4. And Nate also got a much shorter deal, even though both are very young.

Wow. Nate is better offensively, but that's about it. Love Nate though.

Only if you consider his individual offense.

You are kidding me? Nate better than Rondo? First of all i'm not talking about stats i'm talking about how much do they help the team win. Nate was scoring a lot in New York but does he help them win a lot of games? No he didn't. Rondo is probably the best defensive point guard in the league, he is twice smarter than Nate(who i don't think is very intelligent), he is the best transition point guard in the league and exceptional leader because with 24years of age he is the leader on the court with 3 HOF and he keeps all them happy so i think except KG Rondo keeps our hemistry high. So what if he can't shoot? He is still above 50% fg shooting and he make a very good choice which shoots he take. in what Nate is best in the league? nothing. He is excellent 3point shooter and he can jump. He is far behind Rondo and as i sad Rondo is best defensive PG,best transition PG , best FG % PG, best in steals in the league and one of the best in assist so don't you ever say something stupid like this again

LOL, TP for the implied cruelty. Nate Robinson is much better than an old Stephon Marbury, and probably even an older Sam Cassell **however**, Robinson is NOT better than Rajon Rondo by any stretch of the imagination.

Who ever even insinuates that ought to be tried for treachery and then burnt at the stake....just joking of course...  ;)

rondo shooting percentaje is under 40%

Rondo actually shoots over 50% from the field, and led all point guards in FG% last year.  His jump shot needs significant work, but as an overall shooter, he's very efficient.

Nate has gotten plenty of chances to run an offense in his career, and he's never been able to do it.  He's a shoot-first PG, who has averaged more rebounds per game than assists per game for his career (!!)

Last season in Boston, Nate averaged 4.8 assists per 36 minutes.  Rondo averaged exactly double that (9.6).  Rondo is a very good defender, one of the best in the league; Nate is poor on the defensive end.  Really, the only place that Nate trumps Rondo is in shooting; everywhere else, Rondo is significantly the better player.

I thought Nate's defense for us was excellent.

stats shows that nate played a few minutes per game that s why we cannot compare nate with rondo-  but thanks to him we beat orlando- if he plays as a starter he will be much better than rondo
for me rondo is overrated

"Excellent"?  No way.  Decent in spurts, and poor in spurts.

Nate had a couple of okay games in the playoffs.  Rondo was a huge reason why we got past Cleveland, and why we beat Chicago in last year's playoffs.  He's gotten it done over entire seasons, and then the playoffs.  Nate has shined only in spots.

Question:  if Nate is as good as you think, why did the Knicks dump him for Eddie House and Bill Walker?

Ya, I'm a Nate Robinson fan. Probably 1 of 4 people who have a #wordaapp t-shirt. But the thread is an absolute joke.

Roy, obviously Rajon is a lot better player than Nate, however I disagree with your comment that as an overall shooter he is very efficient. As an overall shooter he is HORRIBLE. He probably hits about 30% of his outside shots (too lazy to look it up). Horrible #. That puts him at only hitting about 65% of his layups to get to that 50% #. That is also a horrible percentage point blank at the rim. A good buddy of mine, who was a phenomenal pg in his day, has made comments to me the last couple years asking why Rondo misses so many layups. I agree. He is so concerned with not getting fouled and sent to the line that he goes away from contact and ends up taking a much harder shot which lowers his percentage. Sure he will come up with a highlight reel layup with some serious spin on it off the glass most nights, but there are 3-4 that he misses too because he wouldn't go all the way to the rim/backboard.

I think that every other part of Rondo's game is either excellent or above average, however his shooting efficiency isn't even close.

Nate got 2 DNPs in our first two wins against Orlando, and 5 minutes with 1 pt in Game 3.  Not exactly the reason why we won the series.

What a silly topic.  Next we'll hear about how we'd win 70 games if we just signed a bunch of the And-1 guys.

Again, he ranked #1 among all point guards, so he must be doing *something* right; he can't be "horrible" as both an outside shooter and a finisher, and still lead the league overall.

Rondo's shots are split about 50/50 between jump shots and inside shots.  He hits only 37.4% of his jumpers (poor to very poor) but he makes 64.4% of his inside shots (excellent).  For perspective, that inside shooting percentage is higher than that of Chris Paul, Deron Williams, Derrick Rose, or Tony Parker (the four penetrating point guards I looked up.)
