Terrible trade for Philly. Not a huge difference between Z and D at this point but giving up a borderline starter in Lee and a good rotation player for Bell (not a rotation player) and a meaningless pick.

We have a trade:

PHI trades: Z. Ilgauskas, T. Hansborough, C. Lee

SAC trades: E. Dampier, C. Bell, 13.2

I don't like this for PHI. The difference between Damp and Z is not worth giving up two young prospects in Lee and Hansbrough. I don't consider Bell a rotation player.

At the same time, when you've got Zach Randolph sitting there at PF, it's important to have a good defensive center next to him.  Also, Bell isn't as bad as you think; he started 39 games last season, and is a very good defender (and a streaky scorer).

Where is the "not a rotation player" rap coming from with Charlie Bell?  He started 39 games last year, 23 the year before, and 64 in 2007.  He's one of the best defensive guards in the NBA -- probably as good as the more well-known Raja Bell -- and he's a good outside shooter.

Yeah, he's got a poor PER.  That doesn't take away from him starting roughly 50% of the games for a playoff team.  A player like that belongs in a rotation.

Dampier + Randolph are too slow defensively as a combination. They'll be abused on pick and rolls.

Here's a recent article:

Quote
He can always guard his own man," said Bucks coach Scott Skiles. "We can put him on bigger people and quicker guards. He's a guy who has a knack of keeping people in front of him.

"He's very good laterally. We're not afraid to put him on anybody."

When Rose started to attack Bucks rookie Brandon Jennings and scored seven straight Bulls points early in the fourth quarter Monday, Skiles switched Bell onto the Chicago star.

Rose scored just one basket in the final 10 minutes and had shots blocked by Bell and Andrew Bogut.

Charlie Bell is a good but unexceptional defender.

Bell is also a horrendous offensive player and abysmal rebounder.

Not a rotation worthy player.

According to that article, your head coach doesn't know what he's talking about :)

No offense intended, GT17. Just felt you gave up more than you gained.

BTW, is Griffin your SF? I don't think that's going to work well.

OK then The Cleveland Cavs Select:

A different shooter of the bench.... Our Beloved EEEEE EDDIE HOUSE!

rats.... was hoping he'd continue to inexplicably slide to us at 12.20  :'(

a 4-round drop for the House... went 7.28 last year!
Eddie House declined a great deal from 08/09 to 09/10. A deserved drop.

Should have gone lower too, probably undrafted.

UNDRAFTED?!? WHO i've agreed w 99% of your comments thus far, but I'll give you 100 TPs if you can send me a list of 60 available players you'd take before Eddie House at this point.

don't get me wrong he's a 4th/5th guard, but c'mmon...
That would be a long list to write ... but I can tell you I have 12 PGs, 13 SGs, 13 SFs, 11 PFs and 9 Cs that I have ahead of Eddie House. A total of 58 players.

So House would be a borderline call on my last 10 picks in Round 13.

I'm astonished by this Who.... if you would save that list and send it to me at the end of the draft. I want to see who this Gang of 58 is!

TP for being nearly as obsessive compulsive as me though too  ;D

I think that Griffin could do an admirable job against your SF. He can handle the ball, shoot well, plays great defense and can outjump most 3's. Yes he will struggle with the faster run and gun offenses. But he can also create tremendous mismatches on the offensive end. I also understand thats not going to be his primary role in LAC however for this exercise, he's also not always going to play the 3.

Oof. Really laid him out. There is some upside. He's a nice second ball handler, makes good decisions. If he gets to the rim, he can finish. But, true, that he doesn't have much else in his arsenal. A 6'3 streak shooting SG who doesn't have 3 point range. I vastly prefer my Bell, Raja, on both ends of the floor.

He's got 3PT range.  He's a career 36.2% shooter (which is where he's been the past two years), and makes about 1.6 threes per 36 minutes.
