The Denver Nuggets wanted its three-time All Star, Carmelo Anthony(notes), to sign on for another three years this summer, but HoopsWorld has it that the 26-year-old small forward won't be signing on any dotted lines anytime soon.

i wonder how much money we will have next year...do we have enough for both Melo and Howard?

and how much can we offer KG?

man adding those 2 players (I'm dreaming) with our current roster, I'm loving it

  • You know my methods, Watson.
I don't blame him...  I bet Denver is a nice place (never been there) but it's not New York, and they can start making those jerseys.

Might was well come to grips with the idea that Melo, CP3, and Amare will be teammates as this trend continues...

We will have no salary cap room next year because Pierce, Garnett, Rondo, Jermaine O'Neal, and probably Ray Allen will all still be on the payroll.

You're thinking of in two years when KG/Ray/Jermaine will all be gone. Even then with Pierce and Rondo's deals we likely won't have much space.

Can we trade Ray and filler for Carmello?  I know they don't play the same position, but I'd to it if that's the only way to get him.

We should get used to the idea of 'Melo in New York in the near future.

Carmelo should leave the Nuggets.

That Chauncey Billups trade was always going to hurt the Nuggets long term ability to put a contender on the court around Carmelo. From the minute they made that trade I thought Melo was likely to leave.

The age he'll be at, the success he's had, and the place the Nuggets are going to be in the West as Billups gets old and retires ... a poor mix. The type of situation stars look to get out of and rightly so.

Good decision not to sign an extension. He'd regret it in two years and demand a trade. Better to pursue his free agency opportunities.

Hmmm ... Paul Pierce and Carmelo Anthony on the same wing ... wow, that is a physical post up wing offense!

That would be very pretty. Oh, and the rebounding it would bring. Wow.

Personally, I'd love to see 'Melo in Chicago.  I think he'd be the perfect fit for that team and their missing ingredient.

Yeah, that'd be fun to watch.

Too bad it won't happen.  :(

Melo wants to play for the Knicks and that is where he is going. Nobody else is in the mix. As soon as the signing period start, he will be a Knick.
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

well CP3 did say something about playing in NY with Amare' and Melo...

well if this is the case, when will we have enough cap room to sign a max contract player?

You're thinking of in two years when KG/Ray/Jermaine will all be gone. Even then with Pierce and Rondo's deals we likely won't have much space.

I think we WILL have quite a bit of space: Pierce and Rondo's deals will be worth about $25 million - $30 million in that pivotal season, leaving (based on the current cap, which will likely be different then) about $25 million in cap room, maybe a bit more. So we could have room for 2 max players, or at least close to that.

Welcome to New York, Carmelo.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

well if we really have close to 2 max players, Melo is a top priority, 2nd Howard (We already have Perkin who can defend and he is young) Pierce is going to retire soon in my opinion in the next 3 years, Melo can then take over, if we get him, pursue Howard

somehow if we can retain our top 3, i love our chances
