They just started showing the team tryouts for the national team on NBA TV. Rondo is one of the guys, and even though he got absolutely no love from commentators, he's likely to make the team. Is that a good or bad thing?

  • You say when......
No...it is a waste of time for us...sorry, let someone else risk injury...didn't he get beaten enough in the playoffs...let the guy work on his game, his muscle, endurance.......say no to the show boating stuff...that is how guys get hurt...what would we do without him......? Lose Rondo......go straight to the draft (please).

Yes, he will probably mature and get better as a player...

As long as he is keeping himself in shape, working on his shooting and not getting hurt, I could care less what he does.

Injury would be my big concern ... but he's definitely earned the spot.

I want Rondo to pass on Team USA.

He needs to rest his body in preparation for the new NBA season.

Even if Rondo doesn't get hurt, the excessive playing time will come back to haunt Rondo later on in the NBA season, possibly the playoffs.

Don't want Rondo to run out of gas next year.

Will be fun to watch the FIBAS if(when) he makes the team. I think he'll be a great compliment to guys like Durant, Rudy Gay, and Granger.

If it helps him recruit players in the future, yes.

He should get close to Durant and Howard. Who knows, maybe in a few years...

It'll look great on his resume. You can't replicate the experience. Once in a lifetime opportunity. Rondo go and bring back a gold medal.

i have mixed feelings about it.  there is a part of me that likes it and likes it whenever a celtic is part of a team "bigger" than the celtics (all star games, olympics, etc).  it is a way to show pride and represent not only his team, but also his country.  i would love for rondo to represent the USA.

but then there is a side of me that worries about injuries and fatigued that could impact his playing for the celtics.  at the end of the day, i care more about the celtics than i do team usa.

I don't buy the theory that he will run out of gas because of playing in the tournament. It has already been over a month since the season ended so either way he would have been working out and getting back in shape. It's not like he sits all summer and all of a sudden comes in shape for training camp.

Then during the games, he's is not gonna play big minutes. There are plenty other talented pgs so Rondo probably wouldn't play over 20-25 minutes a game since the games are only 40 minutes long. It should be a good experience for him. I would be more concerned if it was one of the big 3, but not Rondo.

Durant signed an extension, and Howard is not on the team, as espn reports none of the 2008 olympic summer team is there...

although it would be nice to recruit a few...Lebron and them did it ;)

Maybe Durant can give him a few pointers on the jumper.
