Scenario 1:  To get below or near the luxury tax line after signing Brad Miller they trade Battier for Sheed's contract.  Then we sign McGrady or Butler at the minimum

Scenario 2: NY signs and trades McGrady at around 3 million and also sends us Azubuike for Sheed's contract.  NY sends Portland a 1st rounder (much more valuable than ours) and they get Rudy Fernandez (NY is one of teams on his list)

Scenario 2.5: This 2.5 because I believe its the least likely. Same scenario as above but you remove Azubuike.  We sign McGrady for about a million more.  We get Rudy Fernandez, NY sends a first rounder to Portland and we send Sheed's contract and 2-3 million to NY for the contract buyout.  Not sure why NY does this except for the cap savings, but all the big name free agents are gone, unless they have a trade target in mind?

You can also substitute Wilson Chandler in scenario 2 because Azubuike cannot be traded with another player.

i like option 2 instead if you add azubuike, if you have McGrady and hes playing at least 80% like the old TMac, we don't really need another guard...Azubuike can play the forward spot better than Rudy

however are any of these options possible? if so how likely would you say Danny would do this? cuz option 2 can somewhat solve our wing shortage in 1 hit

I prefer scenario one: We get T-Mac and Battier. Our second unit is:

Donkey
T-Mac
Battier
Shrek
Perk- post all-star break.

I would also like to sign Rasho Nesterovich to be our 5th big and 4th big until Perk gets back

Pre-All star break

PG-Rondo/Nate/Bradley
SG-Ray/T-Mac
SF-Pierce/Battier
PF-KG/Baby/Scal
 C-JO/Rasho

Then Perk joins the party after the all-star break

i like this better

Rondo/Nate
Ray/Bradley/TMac
Pierce/TMac/Battier
KG/Baby
JO/Perk/Shaq

if we can get Shaq or TMac both, i really like this team's chances

Why are we wasting 2-3 million dollars for a buyout that isn't happening? The ONLY way a team trades for Rasheed's contract is if they have been 100% assured that Rasheed is retiring and hence, there isn't a need for a boyout.

No way is Shane Battier a 3rd teamer. T-Mac is rays replacement in the rotation, not a rookie. We all know how Doc feels about rookies. Plus, when DA drafted Bradley he drafted him to groom as a backup PG, not to be a SG.

We are not getting Shaq. I really don't want Shaq. He is not good for the locker room. He poisoned Cleavland's locker room last season. No thanks.

Rasho is perfect for what we need.

I think Luke beats out Scal for that backup backup spot (and it's a 3/4).

I don't get why anyone would think Tmac would ever again be "80 % of the old Tmac" - who wasn't that good anyway.

I've always liked azubuike.

If only it was 2002.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

If Butler is so great (it seems there's a vast majority of posters who feel he's our best option), why would he accept the vet min? TMac, too--he thinks he's way better than he is, why would he come to us to play for nothing? Not when most would say the Lakers, Mavs, Heat, Orlando, and maybe even Chicago have a better chance of winning a championship.
