It all sounds extremely vague, and far from clearing what must be a myriad of hurdles, but an investment group believes it will succeed in relocating a current NBA franchise to Las Vegas.

The Kings, perhaps?

Doubt it's the Kings, since the story is about a team being sold, and moved there.  My money would be on New Orleans.

Ultimately though, I think its very premature.  I am not sure the league would approve of a team moving to vegas, because of the gambling connection.

True, although last year's All-Star festivities and Summer League play in Sin City seem to suggest the league might be warming to the idea?

Professional athletes in a gambling city. It will undoubtedly be the most broke roster in the league.

The casinos have got to love having 15 millionaires lined up at their doors every night. More if you count the coaching staffs.

In a completely unrelated story, a group connected to Mandalay Entertainment has made the winning bid for the Golden State Warriors, beating out Oracle's Larry Elilson.

Does Mandalay Entertainment have any connection to Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino?

That would be rough if they move the warriors.  To not have a team in San Francisco and Seattle, two of the best NBA cities out west, and to still have teams toiling away in NO, Atlanta, Charlotte, and Memphis would be a terrible shame.

Send them the Heat lol.  They would be sure to fail if they moved there.

In all seriousness I don't want a team in Vegas.  To many problems can come from it.

I'd bet a good amount of money that it's Shinn and the Hornets.

I had this same thought. Thankfully, no. Mandalay Entertainment makes movies. You've seen some of them, probably, and might recognize their tiger logo. Mandalay Bay casino is part of the MGM Resorts empire.

That doesn't mean they're not talking about the Warriors, but it does eliminate this bit of circumstantial evidence. It would be  an awful parting move from Cohan if he sold to a group willing to take the team out of the Bay Area.

Move the Hornets. That Saints town won't even notice.

0% chance, only reason we have that WNBA team here in CT playing in a casino is because of the lack of a sports book.

I don't see it happening with Stern as the commish.

Don't you guys remember all the stories to come of All Star Weekend in Vegas.  Vegas does not want the NBA back...it was a disaster.

Maybe it's Jordan moving the Bobcats.  I'm sure he would like to be in Vegas.  8)
