Shaun Livingston has agreed in principle to a two-year, $7 million deal with Charlotte, league sources tell Y! Also non-guaranteed 3rd year.

Charlotte is hanging its PG hopes on DJ Augustin and Shaun Livingston, and will be platooning Diop and Mohammed at C.

Shaping up to be a tough year for the 'Cats.

Haha ... I did not expect to see that.

Wow, someone gave Livingston more than the minimum? That is real hit and hope signing.

Is this a signing by Jordan? LOL. Because this is awful. How was Livingston and his team able to pry 3.5 mil a year from a team... He's like, never ever been off the injured list! Crazy bad deals going around this year.

It kills me when people use the "we gave a bad contract before, why not do it again now" logic. Sad failure of reasoning skills.

Strongly disagree. The only question is whether Livingston can stay on the court - and that has to be a real concern. But if he does he'll easily out produce his contract.

Cherry-picked thoughts from Mike Prada over at Bullets Forever:

Quote
In 26 games with the Wizards, Livingston averaged 13 points and 6.2 assists/36 minutes while posting a 14.4 PER and a .582 true shooting percentage.  Those are really great numbers for a player who uses as few possessions as Shaun does.  But even I realize that it's hard to imagine Livingston shooting that well again. Shooting percentages are a bit fluky, and Livingston's shooting was so out of line with what he was doing even when healthy.

But there's no denying this fact: Livingston's presence made the other players on the team better.  In particular, the three young players that have been sharply criticized over the years: Andray Blatche, Nick Young and JaVale McGee.

Quote
A three-year, $9-10 million dollar deal, with the third year either a team option or partially guaranteed, is a fair deal for both sides and wouldn't cut too much into the Wizards' cap space. Ernie should make that offer right away instead of waiting around to see what happens.

Now I would agree that the Bobcats are still in real trouble after moving Chandler in a salary dump and letting Felton walk. But Livingston is a nice pick up and I bet he wins Coach Brown over quickly.

I think Livingston is going to be good.  He's only like 23, 24 and has a lot of potential.  Smart long athletic quick 6'7" who can play the point.

Strongly disagree.

If I didn't know better, I'd think you were simply trying to drive up his value for fantasy hoops, WW.

I wouldn't put it past me. But I'm also not wrong. Who holds him now in H2H anyway?

P.S. What I personally need is for Iverson to land in Charlotte...

  • You know my methods, Watson.
And the offseason of owner stupidity continues... ::)

The fact he got two years and an option is what blows me away...I guess the idea of earning a contract doesn't matter anymore.  Livingston can't stay healthy and they just handed him 7 million bucks that will probably be wasted.

And this is the same team that wouldn't take Calderon in a trade?...

Livingston is clearly risk-reward signing.  I think Augustin has some potential and I really like his game a lot.  I was a huge advocate of getting him here in green.  I think between the 2 of them, they will get lucky and have a good starting pg.

This is what blows me away. They don't take calderon(which i assume is for health reasons?) who is a proven starter, and then throw 7 mil at who else but.....Shaun Livingston? Jordan, if he is the one who has final say in these endeavors, he's making some Kahn-esque moves right now.
