Yeah I don't get the SF stockpile in Phoenix. Myabe they'll move Richardson and play Childress or Turkoglu at the SG

Jared Dudley would be an excellent addition.

Good to very good defender. Very good rebounder. Excellent complementary offensive player with superb shooting ability. An excellent role player.

Sorry bro, not to be a downer but it isn't going to happen. Dudley is a rare "bang for your buck" player and those guys aren't just thrown aside or given away.

Really sad we wasted our LLE on Daniels last summer. Really sad!
I'm not optimistic either. Too valuable a player to discard.

I cannot for the life of me understand why Phoenix signed Josh Childress though. Hopefully there will be some interesting quotes in that press conference about what they're planning on doing.

Childress is very interesting because his situation was really unprecedented. He was the 7th overall pick and a talented young versatile player. His role in Atlanta was a reserve role, but when he went to Europe he became the "star" of his team. For two years he was asked to be the main option or go to guy and carry the scoring load. Coming back to the NBA I will be very interested to see what kind of role he takes on. There is a chance he could come back a much more aggressive, assertive, and better player then when he left. He could also come back and just be a good role player again. I think there is a possibility that Phoenix just got a great deal on this Childress contract. I wouldn't be surprised if Grant Hill ended up on the bench and Childress is averaging 15-17 ppg as a starter.

As for why they signed those guys - apparently longtime agent Lon Babby is going to be hired as the new GM of the Suns. Turkoglu is a client of Babby; Childress was Babby's client before he went to Europe.

I'd say Turkoglu plays most of his minutes at the 4 - they've always preferred a smaller, shooting attack and I think that's what they're going for with Lopez and Amundson manning the center position. Frye will be the more perimeter-oriented center particularly when Warrick plays as the inside 4.

Childress, Dudley and Hill are all versatile players who can handle the 2 or 3, and honestly, I could also see Dudley or Childress giving some minutes at the 4 in real smallball lineups.

I don't think any of the guys mentioned in the OP - Dudley, Hill and Amundson - are available. Maybe Amundson. But Hill and Dudley are key parts to that locker room chemistry that got the Suns to Game 6 of the Western Conference Finals. I don't expect they're available at all, much less in a pure salary dump trade.
Go Celtics.

I think Hedo will play the four much like Lewis does in Orlando and Odom does in LA. I see hom being the point forward instead of Hill to take away some ball handling duties from Nash. They will probably try to use him in a lot of pic-n-pops with Frye and pic-n-rolls with other players and have Nash spot up much like Jameer did in Orlando. I doubt Phoenix trades anyone especially Dudley because he is very cheap unless they get value in return. We don't really have a player to trade them unless it is a Nate S+T.

Phoenix Starters:
Nash, J Rich, Hill, Hedo, Frye or Lopez

Bench:
Dragic, Childress, Dudley, Warrick, Frye or Lopez

Clark is likey the 11th man to begin with and will be fighting for time or waiting for an injury to another player ahead of him in the rotation.

The Suns do not need financial relief and are likely not going to be a trade partner.

One trade I have thought of, if Portland needs cap relief, would be Sheed, Baby, and a pick of some kind for Fernandez and Pryzbilla.
If that is Gentry's new 10 man rotation, wow, they are going to suck.

No rebounding and no defense accept at SF where they have three above average to good defenders. Neither nash or Dragic can play any defense at the point. JRich is the only SG on the entire roster and plays D only if he's in the mood. Neither Warrick nor Hedo nor have the ability to rebound or defender against any PF in the league with a little muscle on them. And Frye and Lopez are marginal at best.

Phoenix, who last year at least was competitive versus some of the bigger teams in the league just became blowout fodder for the Bostons, LAs, Orlandos, San Antonios, Denver's and the like in the league.

New management says I think Hill and Dudley could be gone as Babby gives his guys run and he uses them to free up space to get cap room to sign more players or uses them to bring in more players.

EEither one.

They are going to get hammered.

Phoenix has never really played defense. Robin Lopez can board and defend actually. Yet even when Amare was there they never played D, they just tried to outscore you. As long as Nash is the PG they will always be an offense first defense second type team. Dudley is not a bad defender and I don't think Childress is either, but again they will play to Nash's strengths. Which is not defense but is rather get the ball in transition and try to create offense without committing turnovers.
