You know who would be better to bring back if he could play the celtic defense is billy walker.  A sf that could come in and play hard, run the floor that would be better imo and he could come cheap.  He's probably going to be a player for the knicks this year since they fizzled out in the fa signings.

Yupp, he's still under contract with the Knicks and will probably start for them. He's got a golden ticket in NY and I kind of hope he takes it.

Don't think he's useful. We should resign Nate just for the ability to trade him. In actuality I think he can be a real disruptor off the bench in 15 - 20 minutes a game. He'll have a chance to learn the D, he's as good of a 3pt shooter, and he's a decent insurance policy if Rondo is out for any lengthy period of time. I'd guess Nate is resigned to a Baby-ish type contract, maybe with the second year as a player option? It's not ideal to have him and Rondo on the floor at the same time - but could be good change of pace lineup for a few minutes a game.

We really need a SF, I'm praying Childress signs the ATL offer sheet and they panic and dump Williams.

Hhhmmm for the minimum definitely. Idk though I think we should move on from Eddie and focus on getting a wing, some youth, and more talented players than Eddie.  Still wouldn't mind seeing Eddie back though.

I'd love to get Eddie back and also keep him out of Miami.

I'd rather have Eddie sitting on that bench rather than Finley, and yeah like said above...we need to keep him out of Miami.
I hadn't thought of that. He would be good in Miami.

If we can't get Nate, I would definitely like him cuz we need a shooter off the bench and we have limited options financially.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
I think House might be done. Look at his shooting percentages. With the few exceptions most SG's start to nose dive at 32. House doesn't seem to be one of the few exceptions.

if he takes the minimum, why not?  can always use shooting

I just find it hard to believe he'd accept the min when teams can use a shooter like him

We need more height and rebounding more than another guard.

negative. this team needs shooting, particularly if TA resigns.

I would prefer a shooting wing rather than an extra guard.

as would I. but i'd take eddie's shooting at the end of the bench.

Ouch.

So Knicks fans as a consolation prize at the small forward position this year, you are getting...Billy Walker.

I hope he runs with it too but fans of that team will not be too excited about it.

Bring Eddie back!! he's a great locker room guy, he's a great role shooter.  Even danny said he wasn't happy with our lack of 3 pt shooting the in the playoffs.  Eddie was a great spark off the bench to rally back.   So what he's not a point guard.  we just drafted one.

Actually I think Bill became a fan favorite with all his dunks last year, and Galinary is their starting SF.

This is first in a long line of vet min guys that the Celtics and the heat will be battling over.

It would hurt me deeply to see Eddie play for the Lakers east (I am calling them that because I dislike the Heat almost as much as the Lakers now).
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

If they S&T Nate, I am fine with this. Definitely can't have both players, and there are only a few more spots available, so we still need backup wings and another big.

I love Eddie, so I could never say no to bringing him back.

  • Another undersized Celtic...
Eddie could win us a few games, just like Doc predicted with Nate. He knows the system, knows the role and is a great spark in his own way coming off the bench. I'd love it, and I predict he'd play more than Bradley.

Eddie's time in Boston came and went.  He shouldn't crack a rotation of Rondo/Ray/Nate/TA, and he can't replace any of the above.  I'd rather give the young guy a few minutes to help bring him along/see what he can do than give Eddie any run at this point.

Agree completely (TP) ... if Nate's gone, especially. I personally love Nate as well, though, he's incredibly athletic, very feisty, and constantly surprising much bigger players with his elevation and speed.

Whatever happens, I hope we have at least one or the other, and I'd be fine with both. Very few players have as big a heart, or love the Celtics as much as Eddie, and he loves his role coming off the bench.

He's the type of player who will accept any role given to him, and do it with energy and grace ... I personally felt horrible about losing him, and would love to bring him home to The Green!

In my mind, the first question is Nate's status - is he, or is he not coming back?  BTW, any news or updates?

Even if Nate returns, if Eddie would take the vet minimum and do whatever the team asked, even if sitting on the end of the bench or player #15 on the roster, I'm for it. One, when it really counts in the playoffs, I don't see Doc relying on a rookie 1st round pick in a playoff game. Two, he's an upgrade from Finley. I remember Doc saying late last year the need for shooters. Three, in the last few regular seasons we've had many guys out with injuries. Chances are, especially as this team ages, we will have players out again this year. Four, if it reduces Ray's time on the court even a small amount it's a win-win. Five, better here than Miami.. :)
