But he won't be playing for the MLE. Just for fun though:
1. A chance to win without being an interloper. What does this mean? Well it'd be a sorry reputation to join the Lakers as a superstar and win a ring. It's like your just on for the ride. The C's however are still not considered a #1 contender despite going to game 7. We are still written off as too old. Losing game 7 means that if you do join us & win your the reason and not a ride along.
2. Ownership that spends (check). A good Front office that can get things done. See Ray Allen & KG trades. Getting Rondo & Perk in the draft. Ainge has proven he can dance with the big boys.
3. History, Legacy: Leading the green back to the promised land places you in the heart of deepest and most storied franchise in basketball. It is why superstar free agents gravitate to the Yankees, they want to be a part of history. No one but the Lakers can offer this.
4. Win now. And in the future. The big 3 gives you the chance to do it now. Rondo assures you'll be contending in the future. Is there a better PG to play with for a star? Rondo is great distributing to other stars.
5. A coach they can play for. Doc is the best coach out there from a players perspective. Tactically he's dueled with the Zen master twice and come out looking sharp both times. This is a no brainer, Doc is the most desirable coach in the league right now.
6. Why it won't happen, in spite of all the good things we have to offer the MLE is the only thing we can offer for a contract and LBJ or the other guys won't take that kind of paycut. Even if they know they can get the max in 3 years via bird rights.
How bad ass would it be if LeBron did give up the NYK big lights, the Bulls youth, the Nets Billions and said I want to learn how to be a champion, I'm swallowing my pride and playing for the MLE in Boston. I want to be a part of history.
*pinch* now wake up and hope we can get 6th man w/ the MLE and a new big to replace Sheed.
