It seems the Celtics are interested in Redick. I for one would absolutly love to have JJ Redick on our team. He provides another great shooter and is really becoming a great defender. Also once the big three are gone or retire, he provides a future with Rondo. Since Rondo was so great at penetrating and kicking it out to Ray, once Ray is gone, Redick will just take his place as a great knock-down shooter. The links below

What do you guys think of it?

I don't think it matters whether Ray leaves or not, if the Celtics have a chance to get Redick, they need to make that happen.  He is a great shooter and has approved every year as a defender.  He would make an excellent sixth man and eventually move into a starting role in a year or two..

i dont get it. This guy is nothing more than a bench player, with no ability to come up big in pressure time situations. He is nothing more than a bench player, with limited ability even in his prime. If your talking about playing him 15 minutes or so coming off the bench then yes an ok player.

He will not create anything easier for Rondo.

He has no future as a big time player.

Reddick in a starting role is laughable unless the team is destined to win about 35-40 games.

rayallen1934,

I think that when this team is rebuilding he has the ability to be a great player. He is improving each year.

I don't want to use Sheeds contract for Reddick.  I want to use it for someone like a Marvin Williams.

The only way JJ Redick is worth it, would be if Ray Allen isn't coming back, otherwise they duplicate each other too much.

You wouldnt be able to. Why would the magic trade JJ for sheed's contract? So they can buy sheed out?

We wouldn't be able to use Sheed's contract to land JJ? Did you read the article?  That is how we would be getting JJ.  It is NESN though so they could be wrong.

agreed.  i assume Ray is coming back and therefore that JJ is not coming to boston.  i assume any talk between DA and JJ's team is just in case stuff doesn't work out with Ray.  and also to drive up JJ's value so some other team overpays for him and ends up hamstrung on a bad contract for years.

actually, JJ might be a good fit with Amare in NY if they fail to land LBJ.

They duplicate each other but Ray isn't going to be playing the whole game. Doesn't it make sense to have the same type of player as Ray come in for Ray. That way they can run the exact same sets as the starters?
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Agreed, but you could say the same thing about all of the starters.

I listened to JJ Redick do a podcast with Bill Simmons during the playoffs and he sounded envious of the screens the Boston bigs set... envious of the system that Ray Allen gets to play (running through screens) and mentioned that was how he played in College.  It was at that point that I thought JJ Redick could succeed on Boston.

That said... I'd so rather have Anthony Morrow.  Redick isn't that good.

I'm conditionally into Redick.

Example: trade Sheed's contract for a sign and trade big man or wing, then try to split the MLE between Redick and another big or wing.

In the end I'd liek to see Boston get a center, an insurance big (who will still need to play alot while Perk recovers), a wing who can shoot, and then a secondary wing (either the likes of Redick or a returned Tony Allen)
