I would love to see Shaq come here. We all know he isn't the same player as he was before but if we would had have him in the Finals, we would be champs. He can play 20-25 minutes a game and can still rebound. Plus Perkins is out for who know how long and he would fit nicely here.
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

Shaq is very high on my wish list. The Celtics need some beef while Perkins is out. Its just going to be a matter of how to use the MLE.... Center or Wing?

Shaq at the minimum is a slam dunk. Same goes for Jermaine, Brad Miller or Ben Wallace.

Do we still have the means to pull the "come here at lesser pay for a chance to win a ring" card?

Who knows?  :P

Is it posible he would play for the vet minimum???

If so, I'd LOVE to see him around and play about 20 minutes. He could get 8 pts/6 reb, I bet.

You might have a chance at getting him for the MLE. I can't see Shaq playing for the vet min.

He's made so much money, that it might not be a sticking point. The only big reason for him to stick around is to go get one more title.

I bet he hitches his wagon to whichever team he thinks is going to have the best shot at taking down LA. As far as we know Boston could look very appealing in about 2 weeks.

Shaq's a liability on defense at this point in his career.  Doesn't really excite me.

I'd much, much prefer to get somebody younger who might actually gain some chemistry with our players and stick around in the future...e.g. Tyson Chandler.

And if Chandler isn't available? I would think some team out there will go just above the MLE on him, or he might not opt out at all.

I don't see any centers out there that are good for both the present and future sadly.

And even if the C's strike some gold with a Tyrus Thomas, they're still going to need some lumber at the 5 to help combat all the big centers.

Me too!!! Any two of the following four would make my offseason- Shaq, Tyson Chandler, Brad Miller, Brendan Haywood.

The idea of the Celts and Lakers in the finals with Shaq facing off against Kobe is a dream!!

Shaq would come in real handy in certain situations. Like, when players like D. Howard foul Rondo hard going to the rim and send him head over heels to the floor yet it's not called a flagrant because he was supposedly making a play on the ball. If you have Shaq to help combat that play it makes us much more difficult to play. Also, I can't see any team being too physcal with us if BBD, Shaq and Perk are on the court. Plus, he's just plain funny too.

You're probably right, but I don't see how renting Shaq for a year would help.

The guy is a hindrance unless his team is designed to play around him, and at this point in his career he's just not good enough to be the focal point.  He hasn't made a team better since he helped the Heat to a championship.

Yep - I'd love that, too.

Shaq (In Green) deafeating Kobe in June....the last player that was maybe "The" major part of LA's last Three-Peat, coming back to haunt them in June 2011. The forgotten Franchise Player, sticking it to Kobe and bringing Banner 18 to Boston.

Danny sitting off in his box seats, grinning at Mitch Kupchak.

I don't think Shaq would hamstring us financially, as long as he thought we had a legitimate shot at getting back there in June, which we do.

I smile just thinking about the possibilities here.
