No brainer if he'll take half the MLE.
Then hope that a semi-decent center takes the other half of the MLE.

Sign him if he is available.  Let him get minutes at the 3 and the 4.

Use Wallace's contract to trade for another big man.

Yeah, agreed.  I just hope the Cs brass are willing to use Wallace's contract.

I really think Gomes would be great off the bench for the Cs, he fills a need (yeah, I know he's a tweener, but the "power 3" will always be), works hard, hits the three, has improved his game, what's not to like (if the price is right)?

Only way I'd bring him back is if BBD is moved to improve the team. In that case - where he could play both forward spots he could be an asset to this team. (Don't forget you can slide KG to 5 or Pierce to 2 to go small or big with Ryan.)

Assuming you bring back a big in the deal that sends BBD and Sheed's expiring out - you could have:

Traded Big / Min Center (Perk when back)
KG / Gomes
Pierce / Gomes
Allen / Allen
Rondo / Nate (Avery?)

Once Perk comes back (and I think he'll be fine by ASB) you have a very versatil bench of Perk, Gomes, Allen, Nate. The only thing that concerns me is you still have some gap when Tony is out there... ideally AB could bring almost all of Tony's D at the 1 or 2 and in between Nate and Tony offensively - but I'm not counting on much in year 1.

I want both Gomes and Davis.  Davis can play some 5.  Gomes can play some 3.  Heck, they can play together.

The real reason we drafted Bradley was so we didn't have to bring Nate back, opening up the number 4 so Ryan could return home!

I'd love him back, absolutely. Just not with the MLE.

Not at all interested unless Gomes will sign for the minimum.

GotGomes This game is about to be very physical this is what the Finals is all about. "DayDreaming" one day I'll be in this situation..

He clearly is sick of losing and wants to play for a winner....

I think gomes would be a great fit backing up KG and PP. Remember, BBD is likely going to be your starting C for at least the first half of the season. The C's are going to need someone who can come in and provide some scoring/shooting and offensive rebounds. This is what gomes does best. He gives us another high BBIQ off the bench. The only other PF on the roster is harongody, who at best is going to be what ryan gomes already is.

Sign him Danny !

For the right price, I think Gomes would give our bench great versatility. We have some 2/3's and some 4/5's but we don't have any 3/4's which have hurt us in the past. Players like Odom and R. Lewis pose defensive problems for our bench.

We have priorities that absolutley must be adressed before even considering Ryan Gomes. If he is still available after a rotation quality big and wing are added, then bring him in as an 8-9 man. That is where his value lies.

Using any part of the MLE for him is just wrong.

If Glen Davis is our starting Center for any significant portion of the season, we are S-C-R-E-W-E-D.

I'd rank the priorities differently.
Resigning PP and RA are of course #1 and #2
#3: backup Center.  I assume this will take most of the MLE.

#1 - #3 (the holes in the starting lineup with Perk out) are the most important, everything else is gravy.

#4: backups.  We have a backup 4, and that is it (I won't count the two recently drafted kids).  If there is any of the MLE left, then it can be used, as can vet min contracts, plus Cs can resign players like TA,Nate, Finley.

I wouldn't be at all shocked if the roster going into 2010-2011 was:

PG: Rondo/Nate/A. Bradley
SG: Ray/Tony/filler
SF: Pierce/Finley/filler
PF: KG/BBD/Harangody
C: Perk/[MLE backup-- Haywood would be a dream]/Erden or some other min stiff

TP4U.. I didnt mean to leave out resigning Paul and Ray. I just took for granted everyone would see that. My mistake, I guess some folks could disagree, but they would be wrong wouldnt they?  ;D

I dont think we resign Finley or Nate. The MLE 5 could be 'Bad' Brad Miller it looks like. Not sure Harangody makes the team unless we just need roster filler. (Hope I am wrong and he does) Just a gut feeling.

We need to do better than Finley.
