The dude is broken. Did you see him on the Knicks last year?

Yea I saw him on the Knicks last year...saw him put up multiple 20+ points games!  :P

From what I see here, his sole incentive to join the Lakers is to chase a ring. Can we get him to come to Boston for essentially the same goal? He'll definitely be a bench player in LA but in Boston he can be a starter if Ray doesn't come back. In the case that Ray does come back, he can split time with Ray at the 2 guard. With PP, Ray, Tmac, and TA at the wing positions, Doc will have a lot of options. And it doesn't hurt that Mcgrady is also a good defender  ;) USE THE MLE ON HIM! I can so see another recruiting effort by the Big 3, showing up to the Mcgrady residence. And if we do sign TMAC, Sheed will be motivated to come back for another year.

The Dream situation:

Rondo/Vet min PG
Ray/TMAC/shooting wing or 19th
PP/TA
KG/BBD/insurance big or 19th
Perk/Sheed

If this happens, the window will still be open for another year or so, with KG getting stronger from his complete recovery.

No way would I use the MLE on him.  None!

Why do you have a vet min pg to backup Rondo in your dream situation? Wouldn't you rather re-sign Robinson?

If we use the MLE on him we got nothing to offer Robinson. I love him to back-up Rondo but I doubt he'll settle for the vet min, not at this stage of his career.

If that were so, then how do you have TA re-signed as backing up Pierce? For the vet. minimum? Regardless, it's not true. We could sign Robinson, and TA as well, for more than they are currently making. Not saying we'll pay them that much, but we aren't limited to vet. minimums when re-signing our own FA's.

  • You say when......
This guy has always been a lazy player, never living up to his potential.....there are 1000 reasons why....it only means one thing, BA...he could be on the A team..bad attitude, lazy, over paid...how many more teams does he have to "not" perform on before you see he is a waste..?

1. He did live up to his potential he just didn't have much success.

2. He was never labeled a bad attitude guy until he reached the Knicks. The Rockets traded him because of the injury's and Yao did better without him. McGrady is too ball dominant.

3. Just because you don't work out like Kobe doesn't make you Lazy.

He couldn't play on a team, as a team player, he is inconsistent, he had a really good team a few years in Houston, and he helped them to no where. His attitude was the problem, faking injuries, and "ball dominant" is that a new "PC" term, for a guy who...what....can't play on a team, ball hog, one way, selfish, bad chemistry (that is pc), use those pc terms when you are trying to fool someone who doesn't understand bball and players. Work out like  Kobe, or Ray allen, or any REAL player whogets PAID to play, i know 1000-5000 guys over my years who work out on their game LIKE MADMEN, and we don't get paid squat to play, we do it after work, how do you toloerate a lazy player like this, who thinks what he gives should be "good enough" for ya, huh. His potential was to be a success, he had league leading talent, Houston got RID of him because he fakes injuries, is lazy, and that causes players on that team to hate each other...!

For Knicks players... I’d like Al Harrington, David Lee, and Billy Walker... not TMAC

He'd be an interesting reclamation project. If he was somehow healthy and embraced the role, he'd be a great player off the bench. IF things worked right it could be a Walton-esque resurgence. He could play either wing position and compliment either TA or Nate as a backup PG.

He gets a bad rap, but was a substantial player in all aspects of the game when healthy. He did have microfracture surgery - which is one of those two year recoveries.

There is obviously immense downside - but the Celtics need to be open minded about a guy like this if they can get him at the right price, they won't have that many pathways towards someone elite, even if its only 20% chance he's elite again.

Similar things were said Marbury a couple of years ago. I think his issues are already behind him and any flashes will be held a bay when he comes into the Boston locker room. He will be coming to a ball club with winning mentality. He did not have that in Orlando. He had a group of players who were in his same position in Houston, players who have never truly won in their lives. I think Boston is where Tmac regains his fame, if he chooses to come here and truly humble down and play a 6th man role.

My bad, I completely forgot about that rule. Then sure, Nate could be our back-up  :)

So far, I have seen T-Mac, AI and Shaq as being added.

Throw in Walker, and we have an all-star team from 5-6 years ago off the bench.
