They left it all out on the floor. They just came up a little short. No one on the outside, the media, the "experts" and not most of the so-called fans on this blog believed they could be 3 possesions away from banner 18
1)The Ray bashing disgusts me. He didn't have it offensively last night. Many of those shots were halfway down and didn't fall...it happens. Kobe sucked last night (in no small part due to Ray's defense...with team help) and everyone forgets because they managed to win? A lot of what Ray did offense and defense last night was why we were in that game last night and even still in these playoffs and the best we can do is whine about the shots that didn't fall? I don't get it?....
Also Ray's replacement is nowhere in sight. There is no (affordable) replacement for Ray I hate to tell you. Ray at 8-10 million for the next 2 years guaranteed (with a team or player option) is a great deal even if Ray eventually becomes a sixth man. Ray is better than Joe Johnson at the same age and I'd take him over Joe Johnson now. How much did he help HIS team this year?
IMO Ray is the second best SG of his generation of players (the first being also the best player of his generation the man Ray did a stellar job guarding last night, I think he's officially passed the perpetually choking VC). We could do a lot WORSE.
2)Sheed is a warrior, for me all is forgiven. I wish we could've gotten him one last ring, but I wish him nothing the best in retirement if he does, and I believe he will
3)KG is KG and I think 1 year removed from surgery your gonna see a closer to 08 KG next year and that is a big deal.
I don't think this teams window is closed. I think if we retain Ray. Get some (athletic) frontcourt help. Sign a backup PG, and I'm ok with it being Nate, but if not we should go a taller combo-guard type. Get a true backup for Paul: Outlaw, Miller, McGrady (with an eye that they could start one day) This team is still a contender until our big 3 can leave the game the right way retiring as Celtics. I hope Doc stays at least 1 more year.
I'm tired of the negativity. Great season. Go C's don't want to hear any more hate for this team, they were warriors and I am proud of them. See you guys at the draft....maybe.
