So i was at a sporting athletic store, here in oc, CA. I told the cashier i was bummed out my team lost the other night, she says "you know it." I was like yea i don't feel so bad because losing by 4 points isn't as worse as losing a 24 point lead (via game 4 & by 39 points game 6 via 2008 finals). She looked at me and says wow you got a point. Then i felt better...boo yah!!! I kept telling my family after we'll be back, we'll be stronger and smarter, watch. I'm gonna fly out to Boston one day and finally watch a game I keep telling myself. Only real NBA game I been to was in 2004/05 was a knicks game when I went to New York. I will never go to a laker game unless C's are in town. But my first goal is to make it out and watch a real Boston game with some real Boston fans. YEeeesssssss

Only complaint anyone has about Game 7 isn't that the Lakers played rough as it was put, It's the fact that both teams where allowed to play that way for 3 quarters and then only 1 team was allowed to play like that. If you think LA wins that game without 19 freethrows (not counting Sasha's 2) in the 4th your NUTS!! PLAIN AND SIMPLE.

If my memory serves me right and I think it does, The Celtics never shot more free throws in any game of the finals except one and that was only by 1 freethrow. Dispite that we win 3 games and force a game 7 only to have the our Defencive rug pulled out from under.

Jeff Van Gundy even said this late in the 4th LA won this game at the foul line then there was a dead silence after he said it and then it was countered by Breen saying Rebounds also. Doc said it after the game "A 20+freethrow advantage is to much to overcome".

LIKE I SAID IF ANYONE THINKS LA WINS WITHOUT 19 FREETROWS IN THE 4TH YOUR NUTS!!!

When your 19 old daughter starts whining about the refs in the 4th qtr and that is about her 6th basketball game she has watched in her entire life, you know there is a refereeing problem. She said to me, that the referees favored Kobe Bryant so much that the Celtics had no chance in the 4th quarter.

Well, it is what it is so I am away from work now and trying to rest.
The beatings will continue until morale improves

I'm feeling really bad because I think we were the better team.

What helps is thinking about the draft and patching up the team during the offseason.

Coping? I'm not just yet. I'm still looking for stuff to bash.

I broke my remote so I'm stuck on the Cartoon Network until FedEx runs with another one.

Thankfully I'm not stuck on ESPN or NBA TV to watch the Kobe blow fest.

That Game 7 win was another gift to the Lakers. We won that game....we outplayed them....out shot them at the line...out shot them beyond the arc...and flat out overall out shot them...we had more assists more blocks....for 3 quarters both teams were allowed to play physical...4th quarter comes and every foul they could have called on us...they did....numerous weak fouls...and on the other end we wouldn't get any call unless it was a blatant foul.

In the 4th...the Lakers couldn't score unless they got to the line and the refs made sure they did...in a game where every quarter was in the teens in scoring how does one team end up scoring 30? How does one team end up getting 70%+ of their free throws in the last quarter of physical and loose called game?

The only reason the Lakers won and the only way they could have won is if they got an inordinate amount of free throws down the stretch...and they did.

Wow, thanks Aporel#18 and ACF for the support and thanks, Bahku, for making my day.

The more I read here and contemplate the loss in the 4th qtr., it does seem pretty clear that the foul calls lost us the game. True, Ray Allen choked, but he is just a part of our team, and deserves credit for his shooting and defending ability thoughout the season. The numbers should be reviewed and the Championship title should go to the Celts, but it won't happen. The refs and most likely, Stern, have turned this game into a money machine. I mostly feel bad for our veteran players who deserved the title and the ring.

I'm sorry if I don't sympathize. I'm so happy that you all finally feel as bad as we did in 2008. Thats the beauty of a rivalry.

Wow I'm unpleasantly surprised at how needlessly tasteless this is. Why would you even be here instead of celebrating with fellow fans?  When we win a series I'm too giddy squealing my head off, watching the clincher on loop, calling up every Celtics fan I know and checking Celticsblog every 2 minutes to even think of finding the opponent's blog. Let alone logging on to leave such a petty remark.
Tommy: He's got a line about me. Tell him the line.

Mike: Everybody 60 or over knows Tommy as a player. Everybody 40 or over knows Tommy as a coach. Everybody 20 or over knows Tommy as a broadcaster. And everybody 10 or under thinks he's Shrek.

How are you men and women coping after such a heartbreaking/devestating loss like this? I'm at work right now and i'm having such a hard time concentrating. I have such a feeling of sadness inside of me. I'm trying to think positive and think of other things, but it's not working too well.

What are you doing to cope after such a painful defeat?
Hmmm I wanted to wear to my hardwood Celtics T-shirt 2day n I just couldn’t … That’s all I got 2 say .although I got 2 admit I’m startin 2 recuperate
P.S I’ve developed this hard drinking habit and I take anti-depressants now which I got from a family member (so u b da judge ofda way I'm feelin) :)

I'm coping fine now ... I see the courage and optimism of people like this poster, MmBaby, and many others here who have known such adversity, and I realize just how lucky a human being I am, and how very little i have to complain about.

I'm upset about the fouls situation, but it's just another thing in life beyond my control, and the Celtics are the ones who are feeling it the hardest, for they deserved better.

But if nothing else, they know that there's a nation of people with green blood who know in their hearts who the true champions are ... and our convictions will never sway.

Go Celtics!

You don't have to sympathize, congrats for the title. It's been handed to you like the Minneapolis 4 titles. No effort, no pride.

You can't figure out how the celtic fans feel today, because your team was mollywhoped in 2008. 39 points, and could have been more. Last night you needed the refs bias that has gone through the whole series, and a real injury from our starting Center. You can't talk about Bynum been injured, because that's how he is going to be like forever. I'm sad about Bynum, he seems like a good boy and classier than the rest of the Laker organization.

The Celtics fought for the win, they just couldn't overcome so much adversity. Artest was clutch and Fisher was also, as always. Kobe didn't deserve the MVP, it was Pau Gasol who made the job. And I still can't believe the faker nation booed the best player in game's history, Bill Russell. He probably liked it a lot, as he is really a winner and a faker killer.

You can't figure out how it feels, because you always got the calls, remember the Kings in that WCF? You also don't know what it means to loose your best player with a knee injury in 2009 that still hasn't healed completely.

We also can't figure out how you felt back in 2008, because the Celtics never surrender, they fight until the end. Have a nice day, and enjoy your championship, you really earned it.

By the way, I hope next year Celtics and Lakers can play again in the Finals. Good luck next year, I don't wish you what we've been through, just a fair chance for both teams.

Wow, there's a lot of denial and very little grace in this post. Go back and tell me one by one how many of those 4th quarter fouls weren't earned and weren't legitimate. This game wasn't lost at the hands of the refs, the Celtics ran out of gas. When you are a defensive and physical team but you have become a step slow, you tend to start fouling. You're going to sit there and tell me the Lakers didn't play their asses off for this win? Both teams left everything on the floor and played like champions, but in the end the Lakers will pushed them over the edge. I can't use Bynum as an excuse because he will be like that forever? What a solid argument. You're going to honestly tell me the classy Boston fans wouldn't have booed Magic Johnson if he was the one presenting KG with the MVP trophy? Didn't think so...  And it's not like we were in tip top shape. As Garnett was dealing with a knee injury, Kobe was dealing with the most important finger being broken and mangled on his shooting hand and a knee injury of his own. Accept the fact that we beat you at your own style of play in this game, and in the end it was OUR defensive effort that earned us a championship.

Still hurting, deep inside.

I've got this lingering thought that the commish created these problems of Boston for the past 2 - 3 decades, post Bird era. We cannot be too unlucky losing Bias in '86, Reggie in early 90s, the '97 Duncan sweepstakes and '07 draft. They're too good to be (unluckily)true.

Ok. Danny came up with the biggest acquisitions (KG and Ray Allen)in 2007 that would at least give us 2 NBA titles in 3 years. We, in the Celtic nation, were ecstatic about it - to the consternation of a very envious commish. Now comes a shady deal in Feb '08 wherein LAL acquired Pau for a song. Nobody knew he was being dealt with and a lot of teams can offer more in order to acquire him. But no, he has to go to LaLa land in order to bamboozle the thought that Boston will recapture the title and regain its lost glory. Looking back further, it keeps on lingering in my mind that we were just gutsy and lucky to win 2008 after going thru 3 7-games series in the ECF. We also seemed fortunate that Pau wasn't ready to fill in the slot and the pressures of the NBA finals for the Lakers. They could have actually won 3 in a row now because of that deal. Still the divine providence must have set in 2008. That's why that last title we have is very special and it will start to bring in more good news for us.

It pains inside now. So please Danny pull another blockbuster deal. We need a finisher, a closer and a heart of true young warrior all rolled into one.
