Wrong question. If you are down 1 with 10 secs, you quickly get the first good shot you can get from a player at a spot he is good at. Maybe Pierce has the ball, Rondo runs to the hoop, KG goes to his sweet spot, and Ray runs through screens.

You take the shot early enough to get a second chance if you miss.

If the game is tied, you go to Pierce for a final shot.

This was posed to big 3 before the start of the 07/08 campaign. KG and Paul said "Ray", while Ray said "the open man". I agree with Ray.

Here's another question....

Is Rondo in the game on a last possesion?

If PP is going to be handeling the ball , wouldn't it make more sense to go with Nate instead of Rondo? He is a much better shooter and foul shooter than Rondo.

Final possesion lineup

PG: Nate
SG: Ray
SF: PP
PF: KG
 C: Sheed or BBD

I love the pick and roll with kg and PP that has been mentioned. You have Nate and BBD or Sheed spoting up, and ray trying to sneak to an open spot for the game winner. That gives you the best chance to hit a game winner IMO

Id say run the play for the man with the hottest hand whether it be KG,Paul or Ray.

Yup hottest hand.

ray allen.  great shooter, hits clutch shots, and the most important factor..........if he gets fouled, he is $ from the line

my thoughts:

If Ray is feeling you have Rondo handle the ball and run Ray off screens.  If Ray has the shot he takes it.  Run Paul baseline and have him ready to set up in the high post.  If he doesn't Ray passes it into Paul.

If Ray is not feeling it, game 3 style, you go to Paul.  I hate the Pierce ISO but IMO after watching this offense struggle to find its groove in this series I have no faith in them running a set to find the open man.  Win or lose with the Captain.

This is probably why I am not the coach and Doc is.

Beat me to it.  THE OPEN MAN!!  Ray said it himself.   We are a team and need to trust everyone (plus, we don't have to worry about Perk being that open man).

  • Doc could learn a thing or two from Norman Dale
One of the "big three" for sure.  I'd go with the Captain, although KG and Ray are both good options as well.

The open man.  No iso, run a play and see which weapon gets open.

Although I'm secretly hoping for Big Baby to hit a game winner and then truck Jack Nicholson.

That is such a good point. I know Doc loves Rondo, as do I...but if it comes down to the final seconds and the game is tied or either team is down by 1 or 2 I feel you HAVE to take Rondo out, because he WILL get fouled.

If it comes down to the wire and someone fouls Rondo and the Championship is based on him at the foul line...I will literally kill myself.

Sheed.

I figure LAL forces him to shoot it.
