They're definitely going to need to pull a bit of a rabbit out of a hat (a la Game 2 with Ray shooting the lights out in the 1st half and Rondo playing like a magician in the 2nd half).

No easy task if the Lakers are applying the pressure like they were in Game 6.

Not impossible.

While I agree that it is going to be very difficult without him, if somehow Sheed can muster up an above average game and work down low I can still see us pulling this one out.  Aggressiveness and execution will get us the win in game 7.

Yeah, we can't honestly whine about losing our starting center when their starting center has been hobbled most of the series (including last night).  We can certainly still win this but it will take a monumental effort to be sure.

There's no way the Celtics are "done" if we don't have Perk.  We'll need guys to step up, we'll need some big-time play from 'Sheed and BBD.  We'll need Ray to catch on fire.

We may have to run them out of the building.  Lakers size gets negated if we continually put pressure on them.  Let's get Rondo attacking, lets hope that Nate can step up, that TA can force some turnovers and some bad shots, lets see BBD fight for offensive rebounds, lets get Ray and Pierce some good looks.

We can do this.  It's going to be EPIC.

On top of it being a game 7, with perk gone, we'll play with more urgency. That's what we were lacking this game.

I saw a lot of fighting and diving for loose balls and what not from both teams.

What I didn't see from the Celtics was any execution whatsoever on either end of the floor.

They didn't lack effort, they lacked cohesion.  They looked disjointed, mixed up, out of sync - you get the picture.

Tonight was like Game 1 only much, much worse.  The Lakers looked like a much, much better team.  Perk going down just compounded it and turned it into a huge joke.

Of course they looked like a much better team. And the Cavs looked like a much better team in game 3 of that series...but they weren't.

Whatever, I like playing the underdog role. You have flip flopped on this team so many times this year it is rediculous though.

As important as Perk is, it's certainly not impossible.  We still held them to 89 points without Perk.

We have to get our transition offense cleaned up to have an opportunity and that falls on rebounding and Rondo.

Like many have said, Perk is important, but the series isn't over.

It's not done at all. Perk is important, but we have guys that can step up and play well enough to win a game. I believe Perk is important, but our guys just have to all out.

If our guys can manage to make a freakn layup and play good d, we will win.

I love perk, we will miss his d, but we should be better on offense as well. It's not like we lost KG, Allen, Rondo or PP.

These are the kind of injuries that championship teams overcome. If we are worthy of the title we will win this.

  • You know my methods, Watson.
Perk is about 60% useless...  His loss doesn't concern me at all.

I'm only upset that this might have lowered his trade value this offseason.

I really don't see the Celtics winning without him.  He doesn't put up big numbers or anything like that, but his presence is huge.  If the Celtics are missing him down low, their rebounding and interior defense will suffer, and I can't imagine them winning.

Asinine. Losing Perkins is a big blow, but they were already getting destroyed on the boards when he was in there. They need a teamwide effort to grab rebounds even if it comes at the expense of their transition game.

I am so tired of this talk that rebounding is the reason they are losing games.  Rebounding is much more of a symptom of good or bad play, than a reason for it.

Last night, the Lakers had one more offensive board than the C's.  So they killed them on the defensive boards.  You wanna know why they did that?  Because the Celtics missed 10 more field goals than the Lakers did (thats not counting missed FT's).

Generally speaking, and last night was no exception, the team with more rebounds is the team that shot the ball better, and/or played better defense.

Look, I like Perk and everything, and wouldn't mind him being a lifetime Celtic role player for the right price.  But, for once, let's put his place in our 4-big rotation in perspective:

Offensively, we know he's dead last of 4, right?  Okay...

In this series, despite his ability as a physical LOW post defender, Gasol plays high-post more than low.  IMO, KG and Sheed (gasp) have been at least as good defensively as Perk, and perhaps better.  BBD's lack of length puts him a clear 4th of the 4.

So, if Perk does go down and we're down to a 3-big rotation, which is all that LA uses in the first place, and the odd guy out for us due to injury is our 4th best offensive player and 3rd best defender, and the next best defender (BBD) still has the ability to out-muscle, if not out-reach, LA's bigs, then there is no way that Perk being out should in any way decide the game or series.

While I'm saddened by the injury (to anyone) and recognize that the C's will have to adjust, TP for recognizing that his trade value was likely higher than his actual value on the court.  We might HAVE to keep him now, and the loss of the option to trade him probably hurts more than not having him on the floor.

Think about it....... would you rather have Perk out or Garnett out?

Last year we had Garnett out and we did well..... If given a choice, I'd rather have Perk out than Garnett.... so we are in a better position than we were last year
