This is truly a tough one, and with no true consistency from any member of the starting five, I wonder if its possible to give this award to the bench?

Obviously the Finals MVP will be decided in these next few games, but thus far, I'd have to give it to the bench.

The way we play so unselfishly its nearly impossible to choose one.

Ray could explode one night offensively. The next game Paul could be the key Defensively. Other nights our bench provides offensive spark we need. I couldnt choose.

Pierce has been the most consistent producer, not in terms of impact, but statistical production.

Ray has had one godly half.

KG has one dominant game, as has Rondo, who has come down to earth since Game 3 of the ECF.

I would say Pierce is still the MVP because no other Celtic has clearly set himself apart to take it away.

This is tough to choose...

I'll make a deal, though.. Give Kobe the Finals MVP and I'll be content with the championship.

duh the mvp is whoever pulls out wins 3 and 4. Even big baby has a chance if he has dominating play in the next 2 wins.
If i had to guess, the celtics most likely candidate is rondo.

I agree, give Kobe the MVP, and we'll raise the banner.

It's happened before. Jerry West, got the Finals MVP without winning the title that year.

I think Big Baby has been the most consistent player of this series.  No other player has given more than one good game.  Baby, while a bench player, has given a consistent performance off the bench in each of the games, with the last game being his best.  I don't think the MVP has to be a starter.  But I think if a starter is to get it, he'll have to do something in the next two games.

No other player has given more than one good game.

dont forget: rondo had a triple double in game 2, and in game 4 he had 3 key steals, to go along with 10 points 5 rebounds.

I feel like Big Baby has been the most consistent player, even in our losses, he's always come out and given us a boost with his energy.  His numbers aren't spectacular but I'm going with him until somebody else has a breakout performance that swings the series.

If not Baby, then Rondo probably.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Like other posters, I think it will come down to Pierce or Rondo, based on the first four games. I really love Rondo, but even on off-games, his stats still look good for some reason. Pierce really seems like the most likely candidate, but I think he will have to earn it...I will be REALLY surprised if Baby even sniffs it.

Baby has been consistent, for a bench reserve player.

Those players usually don't win MVPs, especially if those players are "only" giving you bench type production throughout the series.

For a reserve to win Finals MVP, they'd have to give "Starter type" production AND would need the rest of the Starters to stink up the joint.

We all know Final's MVPs are given to the player with best stats and best numbers.

This isn't the NFL where Brady can win Superbowl MVP by throwing for 140 something yards.

It'll probably come down to Pierce or Rondo who've played key roles in both wins but for me it has to be Pierce. The uppercut to Rush's jaw sealed it for me. He's doing it all out there and then some.
