refs were bad all around. they were hell bent on making the game choppy and almost unwatchable. i hope they let them play sunday. no way stars should have 4 and 5 fouls midway through the 3rd quarter

Ray needs to stay out of foul trouble. The floor spacing that he provides is immeasurable, it allows Rondo to drive without seeing 3 defenders at a time, it allows KG to isolate Pau Gasol in the post, and it lets Paul do his work without help reaching in on him as soon as he puts it down.

LETS GET THIS GAME

Tp for the pict. Add to that:

We need all the starters to have a good game tomorrow night and go give their best. Hopefully Ray Ray won't get into any foul trouble, and KG will be more explosive in the paint and on the glass.

P.S. Posting a Kg-Gasol has nothing to do with the comments Gasol made on KG. I just want KG to have a big night to prove to any doubters who think that KG is 'done'.

GO C's !!

The Lakers have had their fun now it's time for us to have ours. I'm positive the Lakers are in for a rude awakening. NO way do we let them do whatever they want like last game. I expect this game to be physical and I expect us to win. The Lakers may not be soft served, but their still ice cream when compared to the Celts. Go Celtics!

X-Factors

The officials called game 1 fairly evenly, but they also called it very tight.

I like that non-bias, TP.

Huh? I thought we had disabled the ability for Laker fans to give Tommy Points.. ;D

Just Kidding, Bynum4MVP.

TP to FLCeltsFan for Post!

As for the game, I look for a strong message to be sent to LA. We won't make the same mistakes tonight. Beat them, and LA will go from thinking they've won this series after one game, to instant Panic!

I love it!

I don't know if I will be able to watch the game live, probably not, but anyway I do know that we need this win! It's not a must win litterally but it's an important game.

We have to strike first and keep our focus and execution in this one. Play better D, trust your teammates offensively and be patient. I hope Rondo will be more aggressive too, and that we will see more of a unit which spaces the floor... otherwise it will be tough to win. I especially liked the Rondo/Nate backcourt, hope we see it again (and produce better results).

Tonight is the night when we can strike hard and steal HCA! I expect big efforts and plays from the Celtics, and I think it will be a close and tough game, but hopefully we will prevail.

TP FL and let's go Celtics!!

Ainge predicts game 2 victory, from today's globe: “I think we have our hands full, but we’re back in it with a win Sunday.’’

I am one who believes that the season comes down to this one game.  I understand its technically not over, that we have that opportunity of winning three straight in boston.

But that is so rare when it happens, and this Laker team wouldn't allow that to happen.  So it's win tonight for me or the series is over.  It has been hard for me to stay confident too and to think we can win tonight.  I don't know, it just feels different.

I just keep reminding myself of the memorial day massacre, heck even after game 3 against the Cavs this year when we were blown out by 30 at home after winning game 2 in Cleveland in furious fashion.

Just gotta keep telling myself there's no such thing as game to game momentum in these nba playoffs

Quote
Bench Play - The Celtics bench must come through for them in this series Tony spent much of the game in foul trouble.  Sheed came close to a melt down.  And the Celtics bench was outscored 24-16 in game 1.  Tony did a decent job on Kobe when he wasn't sitting out with foul trouble.  They all must step up and play their best if the Celtics are to win this series.

Not sure where you got your bench scoring stats from.  The C's bench actually outscored LA's bench 16-15.  I thought our overall bench play was adequate.  Sheed played good "D" on Gasol while he was in, and did contribute 9 pts. on offense. Davis did have a couple of offensive rebounds.

I do agree though that our bench needs to step it up a little bit more.  Davis needs to convert a few of his open jumpers, Sheed needs to cut down on the unnessecary fouls on "D", and "good", not "bad", TA needs to show up.

the people who suffered the most from the game 1 refs are the fans and the tv station. When you have such a good matchup in the finals, how do you screw it up? The refs managed to kill any flow in the game for both teams and make for an ugly basketball game.

I refer you back to the 2006 Finals Dallas vs Miami... Seems like Dallas went out to a 2-0 lead and Miami won their three games at home plus Game 6 on the road. It has been done before. But that said - tonight is very important that we win this game. I think the Celtics came back in 1969 from 0-2 and 3-2 but I was too young to stay up and watch those games.
The beatings will continue until morale improves
