Folks, I think we're thinking a bit small. We need more dynastical-like themes to get us through the post-season.

Right now, the Rondo era is being formed through a top tier all star PG, excellent defending center (Perks), and now, a younger backup combo guard in Nate. In itself, this is a twenty something dynamo. A mix of veteran-ed youths. All of them have years of strength ahead of them.

Then, HoFers: Ray Ray, Pierce, and KG but at sixth men-like 15-20 mpg, thus enabling all of 'em to play for another 3-4 years in the league.

And now, add in veteran free agents from around the league, shopping for a ring. This, I believe, is the Rondo era. Thus, let's say there's another Barkley-like fella, who wants a title but clearly lacks the ability to rally the troops... he can stop by Boston, snatch either the MLE or Vet's minimum, and provided he swallows his pride and allows Rondo to call all the shots, we repeat as champs within the next few years w/o problems.

One thing at a time. Let's take banner 18 first and we'll have the whole off-season thinking what to do next.
The Immortals:

Iker Casillas, Giacinto Facchetti, Alessandro Nesta, Matthias Sammer, Javier Zanetti, Lothar Matthäus (c), Xavi, Zico, Maradona, Roberto Baggio, Ferenc Puskas, Karl Heinz Rummenigge

Coach:Rinus Michels

Yes, one game or series at a time, however, look at the big picture.

Right now, players like Boozer, Stoudamire, Nowitzki are clearly looking at finishing their careers w/o a title. It's obvious that through viral marketing ... like "Who wants to be in that group with Barkley and Ewing" might encourage them to stop wasting time, take a pay cut for a year, and win a ring at Boston. The instructions are simple and that's that Rondo runs the team, not one of the go nowhere franchise players.

They can then later opt out, and join another go nowhere club like Cleveland or Toronto for a fatter paycheck. As long as we get one of these types of players, in addition to our established HoFers plus dynamo 20-somethings, we get another title.
