Vinnie, when you (and a few others who are times quite pessimistic) go negative, I never get the feeling that you are just spewing societal venom and dragging the world into a pit of despair.....

I actually feel more like losses are extremely hard on you, and you're protecting your green heart from further pain!

Cheers!

And will remind myself and all of you on a regular basis. Regardless of what happens in the finals, I owe the Celtics and all of you true green diehards an apology for doubting and for not knowing a thing about basketball.

GO CELTS!

TP for being classy... Like Bahku said, no need to apologize... :) With the way the C's were playing, the comments about their failure and demise were justified...
Yeeeaaaa!!!

As long as you keep buying those season tickets all is good.

LOL! Agreed.. I'll never forget those "i'm thinking about not getting season tickets anymore" posts... :) But as long as you keep them!! :)

And someone said it before, but I do like your posts Vinnie, and you always base your opinions with facts, and you know what you're talking about!! Like someone else said, you were just protecting your heart from heart ache, so rooting for a team that went 50-32 and just seemed broken looked hard to do.. :)
Yeeeaaaa!!!

Hey, if you know nothing about basketball and the NBA, then neither does 90-95% of the Celtics die hards on here (and NBA die hards in general, for that matter).  This is the most surprising Finals run in NBA history because we had to go through the two best teams in the regular season to get here, and we just looked like dead men walking at the end of the season.

You should apply at ESPN. Apparently bball knowledge is not needed to become an analyst(I'm looking at you Adonde).

After the Celtics went up 3-0, I suggested I was the perfect candidate for ESPN. Unfortunately, I have the perfect face for radio.

What's to apologize for? You're no different than most Celtics fans. Besides, we all read between the lines and saw you were a true green blooded, through and through Celtic fan.

Now if jadams ever came back and apologized, now THAT would be something.

I'll be honest...After every playoff win, I thought of all the negative folks on this blog...and wanted to say "I told you so"....but like I'd mentioned it in some other thread...I don't care about it anymore...I'm just so glad that our team is winning and that we are cheering as one....Now BEAT LA(or Phx)

Props to the OP...and TP for the thread.

You're a man of your word, vinnie, although I think your promise didn't require you to do this unless the Celts win the title.  Don't jinx us! ;)

I think I find this thread more palatable than pics of IP's chest hair.  ;)

it wouldn't be the playoffs without a Vinnie apology thread... is this the third year in a row you gave up on them?  TP for the admission

Definitely gave up on them last year, because without KG they had no chance. Probably doubted them in 2008 because they took 7 to get through the first two rounds. However, as several posters have mentioned, I now know why I do this. The Celtics are my favorite team by a huge margin and it is simply my defense mechanism to avoid a broken heart. If I could just learn to keep it to myself. Before the magic of the interWebs, it was much easier!

Nothing to apologize for.  Your committment to having some evidence to base a judgement on shows solid BBIQ in my book.

As strong as they've looked in these playoffs so far, it's not like there was much indication of it on the court during the last half of the season.  I'd be BS if I had season tickets to watch the regular season this year...

I just thought of it this way:

vinnie is not worse than more than half of ESPN's so-called "panel of experts" and he's one of us. That ain't half bad  8)

This is the way I look at it, if vinnie knows nothing about the NBA or basketball in general, exactly how does that make him different than all the rest of us?

It doesn't.
