vicious elbow against Q-Rich? ROFL

Kevin Garnett has notoriously used elbows in the same manner as Dwight Howard and often been accused of intentionally doing so and in 2009 he was voted the 6th most dirtiest player http://bleacherreport.com/articles/265749-body-blows-the-10-dirtiest-players-in-the-nba#page/6.  Let us also not forget the vicious elbow KG threw on Q. Richardson in the Miami series.  Where was the outrage on this board then? (I realize he got called for a T and ejected, but come on, that bow was nasty and thrown with a lot more force and conviction then anything Howard has thrown in this series).

Rasheed Wallace's reputation clearly precedes him.  And like KG cracked the top ten in 2009 as one of the dirtiest players coming in at 7th http://bleacherreport.com/articles/265749-body-blows-the-10-dirtiest-players-in-the-nba#page/5



I think you get what I'm saying.  Just pointing the finger at other players, when completely disregarding the players on your own team, makes this entire community seem nothing more like spoiled whiny bratty children.  Sure Howard's elbows can be dangerous, but they aren't hidden cheap shots, they don't occur in dead ball situation (*cough*KG*cough), and are open and obvious.  Yes the NBA refs should call them a bit more, but lets not act like the Celtics are comprised of a bunch of saints here.

TP...i agree with the OP 100%.  For the last 3 years we've liked to say we're the 'toughest' team in the league.  Non-Celtic fans say we're the dirtiest team in the league.  Now when another team tries to get physical we act like we're saints.  Just accept that toughness can go both ways and sometimes we're on the other side.  It's ok, we're still going to win tonight!  

And KG's elbow was pretty bad...it was a violent jerk back in to the face of Q-Rich.  Didn't quite connect, but if it happened to a Celtic everyone on this board would have been up in arms.  They didn't show the good angle on CSN, but there was a good angle that showed the extent of the elbow.  

Well KG did get suspended for that. Should Dwight not? At least one out of his series of elbows must be as bad, if not worse.
And oh! The refs don't even call them during games.
Some might wonder what would've happened if the elbow from Dwight on KG got called during the game instead of having it upgraded after the game.

I don't think the people who complain (me included) would complain half as much if they were called.

This must be one of those " I am going to say something absurd, to get a lot of replies" posts....?  If the Celtics are so dirty, how is it that every other team we have played in this years playoffs, only our guys have been getting thrown around, and somewhat hurt. You said KG threw the elbow in that scrum...but you didn't say that PP was pushed into that bench first, just flat out pushed, in front of the ref....annnndddd, no call, no review..! Is that legal or clean play...? Look at all the hands on KG during that altercation, and that wasn't basketball, that was a player protecting a player while he was down, at the feet of the other team.

   You might not watch a lot of bball, and probably haven't played much either, but what orlando is doing, are professionaly dirty plays, you see, what you do is the original foul, is average, you might get the ball, but the follow thru is the pro hack part, see the ref called it already, the play is done, now the hacker follows thru with a throw down, arm bar, continuation. Or in getting position, you run down the court and slam into the guy...who is "already" in position....

  The list is endless. The Celtics really don't do this because they don't have young or muscle players, they really can't survive the constant impact as well.

  I think the rep may come from Bird era teams, when the league was different, and we played East Coast ball, with the likes of Detroit, and the rest of the East, who were very physical, but all East coast teams were, and the West really wasn't.

    That elbow damage from Dwight is too obvious, and constant. Now his injured list is up there with his assists. Watch how he runs down the court and rails into players, drops his shoulder to drive in the post, and throws his padded elbows all the time. That isn't basketball, and in the Bird era, he'd get a reponse that he couldn't handle.....!

It´s not about toughness if one player is allowed to step over certain lines and injure his opponents on purpose. If anything, it just shows how he`s pampered by the league.

No one is injuring anyone on purpose. Just like when Baby smacked the crap out of Shaq's hand. He wasn't trying to hurt him, but he was playing very physical. Playing that physical often has the goal of trying to make players timid due to their being pain averse. We also see this with Sheed and Baby hammering Howard in the first 2 games.

It is incredible to see all these posts about whoever our opponent is being protected by the league and claims that the league is against us. Go to other boards and you will find homer fans claiming we get the special treatment as the league allows us to maul people like no other team can.

KG threw an elbow, sure.  I don't think I'd call it particularly "vicious", though, and it certainly wasn't "thrown with a lot more force and conviction than anything Howard has thrown in this series".

I mean, KG isn't the one picking up flagrant fouls or knocking guys out of games with concussions, and there haven't been multiple "accidental" KG elbows to the face and head of players, either.
