It is interesting how our main weapon in the first two games was physical play. We consistently hammered Howard, sometimes in ways that you can only get away with in the playoffs.

Now that we are losing, some Celtics fans are complaining like Lakers fans in 2008.

We need to get back to the physical play of the early games. The loss of Perk in game 5 due to questionable T's definitely made it tough to be as physical as we would have liked, but even before that play we weren't being as physical with Howard as we were in the start of the series.

Well i think the problem is last night they TRIED to get back to our brand of basketball, I.E physical play and KG and perk were in foul trouble within 6 minutes, with Sheed and davis in trouble shortly thereafter.

Meanwhile, the magic were allowed to play very physical and somehow stayed out of foul trouble.

IT's all well and good to want the C's to play there typical physical defense, but if it results in 2 on most of our bigs by the middle of the 1st quarter, then they literally CAN'T play that way.

I think you are off the mark but, I appreciate the toughness you are showing.  You deserve 10000 Chuck Norris TPs.  Please do me a favor and pat yourself on the back mr no excuse maker ( bud light style ).

Yea. How is Howard getting these monster dunks? The Celtics need to wrap him up every time he has the ball that deep. Also please please someone put him on his ass this next game.

No, it's not. Elbowing someone in the head is not "physical play". It's not a basketball play at all, and it's extremely dangerous for players' health.

Playing straight up physical with the requisite pushing, shoving, and denying position is fine. That's the bread and butter of our defense. However, I'd like you to point at the last Celtic that elbowed someone in the head during an in-game situation.

If Howard wants to be a "tough guy" so badly, I'd suggest a change of career to professional martial arts. Basketball is (or at least should be) a game of skill.

And if he dunks it while they are fouling him you would say why didn't they just let him go.  Plus all our bigs were in foul trouble and a few were ejected or concussed.  But again appreciate the toughness in your post...

Elbows to the head aren't physical play, they're dangerous and dirty.

I'd be okay with this sort of play if the C's were allowed to play along with the Magic. In Game 5 this wasn't the case.

The Pick and roll ate Perkins alive. That is why Howard had several dunks to the opening quarter.

Yeah, it won't work on the alley oops where no one is near him for the reasons you say.

In the end, Jameer Nelson is the difference maker so far in the series. The series has been all about how well he uses picks.

TP for being a good sport and ignoring my sarcastic response.  Just a bit frustrated.

The problem is the Celtic big men are not allowed to be physical but the Orlando Cs are allowed to throw elbows.

Constancy for both sides is what we want.

I get where you are coming from. I found the Perk techs frustrating, especially the double tech.

Gortat is throwing elbows?

Gortat was allowed to be more physical then the Celtic's Cs.  If it was Wallace or Perk that knocked over Barnes like Gortat's movement knocked over Daniels (not what I would call a foul in the playoffs), they would have been called.

There was a lack of constancy with the big men.

The officials were pretty consistent outside of that.
