Inevitable I guess but I do feel a little bad for Brown. His strength was in being a good defensive coach and the FO really took that away with their recent signings. Each starter they've added since 2008 has been more defensively challenged than the last.
Tommy: He's got a line about me. Tell him the line.

Mike: Everybody 60 or over knows Tommy as a player. Everybody 40 or over knows Tommy as a coach. Everybody 20 or over knows Tommy as a broadcaster. And everybody 10 or under thinks he's Shrek.

Well it was deserved, he is not a good coach.  Is Ferry next?  His team he put together was obviously not poised to win the nba championship.  Our Mr Ainge has a playoff roster put together of team orientated players, either role players, stars, vets or scrubs that made Cleveland look lost.

Not sure how true this is about Ferry.  The Cavs roster was set up so they could play several styles of basketball.  Quick and athletic  if need be or slow and traditional.  It's just too bad Brown refused to do anything outside fo slow and traditional
His refusing to play JJ Hickson in the Celtics series still astounds me.

Well done Cleveland, you're just two years late. It won't bring LeBron back!

I'm sure it doesn't hurt Cleveland's cause though! ;D

After that game in the regular season where Shaq got hurt and Varejao/Hickson absolutely destroyed us, we saw them on the floor together for maybe a couple dozen minutes in the series.  Crazy to not even try it when Cleveland's backs were against the wall.  Glad he didn't, though.

From game one in the Celts/Cavs series, KG destroyed Jamison on the block.  It took Brown until game 6 to make ANY adjustment to that.  His answer was to switch Shaq onto KG, so KG just stepped out to the perimeter and drained jumpers.

That alone justifies his firing.

buh-bye Mike.  Nice run you had with that team.

You'll be back behind the bench again coaching a different team soon I'm sure.

Maybe he can go coach the Clippers.

Its Danny Ferry's turn...he's failed at bringing in the right pieces(imo). The coach is always the first to go,which sends a bad message.Brown is not the one on the court,he can only do so much.If he got them to the finals before with lesser talent then maybe its not the coach who didn't show up but the players themselves.

When does Ferry take the blame?

Considering what the Cavs had available for trade pieces, I thought Ferry did a good job building a really good team.

And defensively the Cavs are really tough... Well except for Mo And Jamison. Their offense however is brutal - inefficient when you consider the talent involved. And the lack of adjustments in the post season was brutal. I blame the coach for this.

When does Ferry take the blame?
Five seasons is long enough to get it right as a GM(imo)...somehow the weight always falls on the coaches around the league when a team fails.Look at the Hawks,Mike Woodson brought that team from being basement dwellers to being competitors, but because he doesn't have the horses to get him over the hump, its his fault.
Also,if the Wizards didn't have the problems during the season, the cavs would probably have been worst come playoff time.Danny had 5off seasons to get it right, and never put the right pieces together to win a championship.

Jamison&Mo are defensive liabilites which is 40%of their starting five. Why should Brown take the blame for their inefficienes...Danny brought them to the team, not Mike Brown.

  • You know my methods, Watson.
My guess is that the Cav's will get so desperate they'll hire Drew Joyce...

He should have taken the hit last year for getting beat by Orlando.  The fact he showed no innovation to even try to counteract the C's this year shows he's just overmatched.  A different coach may have gotten different results (not my preference but a remote possibility).

Ferry is doing what he can to get better players around Lebron and he's making progress in that regard.  Considering what he's pulled off in the past 3 years to bolster that team, Ferry isn't the one to go under the bus (yet)
