So Pierce let the cat out of the bag last night. He said with the type of surgery KG had it takes a full year to get healthy. HMMMM, Microfracture takes a year, so what was it, they have been vague since the injury. If anyone knows for sure give me a reply

Two things...first, Doc and Danny (and I think some of the players) have said that several times over the last couple of months, so the cat was already out of the bag.

Second, there is no way it was microfracture surgery.  Generally it takes a year just to get on the court after that, and then another year to regain explosiveness (if ever).

I am not sure what it was, but I don't think if it was anything that dramatic (any sort of major tear, or microfracture) he would have been on the court as early as he was.

KG said that as well i forget what game it was after but he did come out and say that he is getting close to 100% because this time last year he had his surgery. So Pierce really didn't let the cat out of the bag..

There was also a nice jackie macmullen article 1 month ago detailing all of this.

“They told me when I first got this injury it would take a year,’’ Garnett said. “I’ll be very candid with you. I didn’t believe them.’’

Did any of you actually read my post, I never said it was microfracture surgery, I said "that" takes a year, so what was his injury. You guys jump way too much on what is written without reading every word. They still have not said exactly what it was, have they? Yeah I follow this team with my life and live and die with it. But a bone spur rubbing on a tendon. Realy, remember last years playoff where they tempted people with a possible come back, but the surgery takes a year to heal. What gives. You cant have it both ways, either it was a serious injury that a bone spur is not, or it wasn't and it takes a year. Nobody has ever said what it really was. Nobody

Doesn't really matter - beyond the knee structure, his leg may also have been weak, flexibility etc. All injuries effect different people in different ways. I had full range of motion in my shoulder after a SLAP repair in just a few weeks - Dr. Gill was shocked (Doc for Pats and Sox at various points), but that's how my shoulders role. The strength and pain didnt go away for a year. Who knows.

I see no reason to believe anything other than the official story and just assume that 1. KG is very cautious with his body and 2. It took him a while to get physically to the point of full speed and mentally to the point of going all out.

According to Dr. William Simmons, it was minor staple-optic surgery. Typical recovery time, one year.

KG's improved health is one of the reasons we can still contend for a title next year, by the way.

I'm just glad to see the Big Fella running the floor. His blow-by of Sideshow in Game One I believe really opened my eyes.

"He's Back!"

With KG, we match up well with both ORL and LA, now. Throw in Perk, Sheed and Glen and we have all bases covered.

But KG is the Anchor of it all.
