Now, we know the Spurs are way over the cap but I don't think that trading one of the core members of their old championship squad away would be helpful unless they're just trying to blow up that team after losing to the Phoenix Suns in quite the anti-climactic fashion this post-season. Duncan is likely to retire there and Parker is a former Finals MVP so if they do anything it would probably involve dealing off Jefferson and trying to save up some cap space.
Unfortunately for San Antonio their attempts to put together a potential championship-winning roster by spending tons of money on a valuable free-agent backfired in the wake of what may likely be a re-match between the Celtics and Lakers at the end of this season. In fact, many teams in both the East and West will likely be scratching their head at the end of the season if the two winning-est teams in NBA basketball make it to the Finals again because of all of the big trades that went on during the off-season. Cleveland might be losing alot of players if LeBron leaves as that city will no longer be able to attract big-names, Detroit is actually worse now that they signed someone to come off the bench there after Allen Iverson refused to do so, the Nuggets were great again but didn't make any impact in the playoffs, same with the Mavs, the 76ers brought A.I. back but tanked before ever becoming a threat to make the post-season. The Knicks already have T-Mac but I'm sure would be willing to let him go for a shot a LeBron, etc. It just seems like it would be strange for the Spurs to make any other big trades seeing as they are literally spending over 20$ over the cap this season alone and should be doing anything possible to try and free up some cap space...
